Sailing area:
We start in the harbour of Tivat. The coastal town lies in the breathtaking Bay of Kotor, surrounded by a fjord-like landscape. The town is known as the sunniest place on the coast and the setting is unique with its clean, clear and blue water.

Mediaeval towns such as Herceg Novi and Kotor are known for their fortifications built directly on the water by the Venetians. Perast – often called the "Venice of Montenegro" – is one of the prettiest Baroque towns, where we can explore the charming alleyways. We sail past the two offshore islands. From a distance you can already make out the church towers of St George and St Mary from the 12th and 16th centuries.

Along the Adriatic coast heading south, we discover the beautiful stops at Bigova, Budva, Petrovac, Bar and Ulcinj. Along the way there are numerous pristine beaches and idyllic anchorages.

We let ourselves be enchanted by the charming fishing village of Bigova. The clear, calm water is ideal for swimming and snorkelling. The harbour offers us good shelter. The local restaurants serve the catch of the day. The invitation to try the national dish "Chorba", a fish soup, should definitely be accepted here.

In Budva, history meets modernity. Ancient monasteries, alleyways and the Venetian-era city wall shape the old town. Here we experience a lively atmosphere with summer festivals, theatre performances and vibrant nightlife. The beaches near Budva can rightly be called a Riviera. Sandy, stone and pebble beaches line up here one after another.

Dubrovnik is only about 20 nautical miles away, so it is also possible to get to know the Croatian coast and pay Dubrovnik a visit. Along the coast a stop at Cavtat is worthwhile – a romantic resort with beautiful palaces, monuments from Roman times and archaeological finds. It smells of lavender and rosemary. Further towards Dubrovnik we can drop anchor at Lokrum. The island has been a nature reserve since 1964 and is home to a botanical garden with tropical species. In the south of the only 1,600 m long and green island lies the salt lake "Mrtvo More".

The coast of Montenegro has a Mediterranean climate. The warm summer temperatures from May to September give us a pleasant sailing season. The average temperature during the summer months is 27°C. We sail mainly with the winds Maestral from the northwest and Jugo from the southeast.
