This active sailing adventure in Italy is packed with phenomenal experiences. An unforgettable and varied sailing holiday with daily hikes ashore providing a pleasant contrast to the convivial life on board.

The volcanic islands in the Tyrrhenian Sea off the north coast of Sicily are characterised by wild, unspoilt nature. They are known as the "Aeolian or Liparian Islands" because, according to Greek legend, the wind god Aeolus once lived here. This Mediterranean jewel consists of seven inhabited islands, and each island is unique. From beautiful green hills to bubbling craters, you'll find a great variety of unique natural landscapes in a very small area. In 2000, the Aeolian Islands were designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The regular volcanic eruptions of Stromboli offer a unique natural spectacle, and the volcanic mountains and Mediterranean landscapes are a true paradise for hikers.

Florette sails daily, with time in the afternoon to explore the islands ashore. Sometimes longer passages are made to reach other islands.

On this voyage a hiking guide will be on board, leading daily hikes on the islands, each at least 4 hours per tour.

🔹Discover the Aeolian Islands
Although Lipari has around 5,000 inhabitants, it retains the charm of a typical Sicilian village. It boasts one of Italy's finest archaeological museums and a picturesque old town full of small shops.

Salina, also known as the Green Islands, experienced a renaissance as an agricultural centre in the 1970s. The island has numerous vineyards and is renowned for its dessert wine Malvasia delle Lipari as well as for its capers, considered the finest in the world. Hikers can walk through magnificent pine and chestnut forests to the highest peak in the archipelago.

On arrival at Vulcano we are immediately greeted by the smell of sulphur. Until the 19th century, sulphur and alum were mined just metres from the quay. Today the harbour is lined with souvenir shops, spas, hotels and bars, and visitors can enjoy sulphur mud baths. A highlight of the island is the hike to the crater, where you can observe the yellow sulphurous fumaroles.

Since antiquity, Stromboli has served seafarers as a landmark, especially at night because of its frequent eruptions. The volcano erupts every 15 to 20 minutes, and depending on the magma level in the vent, lava bombs can be hurled hundreds of metres above the crater rim.

🔹Life aboard Florette
Life aboard Florette revolves around a unique combination of traditional sailing, experiencing nature and Italian culture. Guests are actively involved in classic sailing: with her original rigging, Florette is a true 'all hands on deck' ship, which makes the adventure particularly special. Sailing here is not a spectator experience but a communal one.

Besides sailing there is plenty of opportunity to enjoy the sea and the coast. Guests can use sea kayaks, SUP boards and snorkelling equipment, and even fishing tackle is available to catch fresh fish for dinner.

Breakfast is served on board every day. In addition, 6 meals are included, consisting of lunch and/or dinner. Ship's cook Nicole cooks with fresh, local and seasonal ingredients and prepares healthy, flavourful Mediterranean dishes. The remaining meals usually take place ashore, so you can fully discover the local Italian cuisine. Should going ashore not be possible, additional meals can be served on board at a fair price.

*One child up to 14 years travels free of charge when sharing a cabin with both parents.
If only one parent travels, the single cabin rate applies for them.
Children wishing to have their own cabin pay the young sailor rate.

The tall ship Florette is the last original brigantine in the Mediterranean and one of the last active wooden windjammers. Florette has ample space both above and below deck. Below deck there is a spacious saloon, a bar and a dining area with traditional wood panelling. Above deck there is a large cushioned area for relaxing, sunbathing or sleeping under the stars (bring your own sleeping bag if you fancy it!). An outdoor dining area is located amidships and is perfect for lunch in the sun or dinner at sunset.

Guests are accommodated in comfortable cabins. Solo travellers can book either a single cabin or a berth in a 6-berth cabin. All crew members share a total of four toilets and three showers. An additional shower on deck invites you to rinse off after swimming in the sea. Young sailors under 30 have the opportunity to experience a real, authentic seafaring adventure by sleeping in a hammock in the saloon between 21:00 and 08:00! Each hammock is equipped with a sea chest for personal items. A sleeping bag must be brought yourself. Depending on availability, young sailors may also get a berth in a 6-berth cabin.
