Description

On Monday we will fly to Zakynthos – one of the Ionian Islands. We then settle in on board the Myrto. Monday morning will be taken up with shopping. After that we're off.

Our first stop could be the island of Cephalonia. The next day our first anchorage could be Petala, where we can go swimming.

We then continue to Mesolongi, a small town that looks very unassuming from the harbour, but has many lovely tavernas. Now we are already in the Gulf of Patras. Depending on wind and weather, our next stop is Patras or we sail straight on to the island of Trizonia, which has a small, very idyllic harbour. In doing so we pass under the bridge at Rion. It stands at the narrowest point between the Peloponnese and the mainland and is Europe's largest cable-stayed bridge.

The next day it rained heavily on last year's trip and we decided to stay in Trizonia. Perhaps that will be the case again this year?

Our next stop could be Galaxidi. Here we take a day's break and pay a visit to the Oracle of Delphi.

After that, Corinth is on our itinerary, the entrance to the isthmus. Corinth itself is a large city – with all its advantages and disadvantages – but there is no other berth near the entrance to the isthmus. The next day we go through the Corinth Canal. You have probably already seen pictures of tourists waving down from the bridge above to the ships below. This time it's the other way round. You look up at vertically rising 80-metre walls – the canal is 24 metres wide and can only be navigated in one direction at a time – and wave up to the tourists above.

After passing through, we will call at Korfos on the east coast of the Peloponnese and enjoy a meal at a fish restaurant.

The next day's trip takes us to the island of Angistri. The final leg of this sailing trip is the passage to Kalamaki marina in Athens.

The following day we take the time to pay a visit to Athens, the Acropolis, etc.

On Tuesday we fly back.

The average water temperature in October is 21 degrees, the mean maximum air temperature is 23.1 degrees. That's lovely for swimming. The sun is expected to shine for an average of 7 hours.

Trip costs €950 plus onboard kitty approx. €400 for two weeks plus flight approx. €380.
