From Bastia on Corsica Round Corsica Sailing

Corsica is among the Mediterranean's most fascinating sailing areas. Rugged mountains, turquoise bays, historic harbour towns and striking natural beauty make the island a wonderfully varied destination. Our trip starts in Bastia and – depending on wind and weather – takes us right round the 'Island of Beauty'.

Along the east coast, long sandy beaches alternate with peaceful anchorages. The passages offer relaxed sailing and frequent opportunities for a dip in crystal-clear water, before one of Europe's most spectacular natural harbours opens up in the south: Bonifacio. The old town perched atop white limestone cliffs is undoubtedly one of the most impressive sights in the entire Mediterranean.

From here there is an opportunity – weather permitting – for a detour to the northwest coast of Sardinia to Castelsardo. The medieval town with its castle high above the sea provides a charming contrast to Corsica and adds another Mediterranean dimension to the trip.

We then follow Corsica's wild west coast. Red granite rocks, secluded bays and small harbours such as Girolata, Calvi or Saint Florent characterise this section. Here Corsica shows its most pristine side – rugged, spectacular and at the same time surprisingly peaceful.

The finale is rounding the striking Cap Corse. The northern tip of the island is known for its varied wind conditions and offers one more authentic sailing experience before we return to Bastia.

At around 320 to 380 nautical miles, this trip combines sporty sailing with plenty of time for shore visits, swimming stops and the Mediterranean way of life. Each coast of Corsica has its own character – it is precisely this diversity that makes circumnavigating the island such an unforgettable sailing experience.

You sail with a maximum of 3 other participants on a Beneteau Oceanis 43 built 2007 (owner's yacht) with German safety certificate for worldwide cruising, comfortably equipped with watermaker, solar panels, electric winches, Starlink and much more. The owner and skipper has over 50,000 nautical miles of experience, 99% on cabin charters and sail training trips.
