Your leap into the open sea:<\/span> The Sportseeschifferschein (SSS)<\/strong> is the official licence for motor and sailing yachts in coastal waters \u2013 in all seas up to 30 nautical miles from the coast (including the North Sea and Baltic Sea, English Channel, Mediterranean, Black Sea, etc.). Professional skippers and ambitious leisure sailors in particular benefit from the SSS:<\/b><\/span> It is legally required to command commercially operated sports boats in these sailing areas (e.g. training yachts). For private sailing trips, however, the SSS is not mandatory, but a valuable additional qualification beyond the SKS.
