It is the city's main marina and departure harbour for trips to the islands off Šibenik, to the Kornati and up the River Krka. Here you will learn how to enter Šibenik through the Sv. Ante channel, how to berth in Marina Mandalina, how to get there and which of the city's other harbours you should know about (as of October 2026).

The essentials at a glance

Marina Mandalina is operated by D-Marin and has 452 berths, including provision for megayachts, at depths of up to 5.5 metres. It monitors VHF channel 17.

From seaward you can only reach Šibenik through the narrow Sv. Ante channel. Depending on the Krka's flow, an outgoing current of up to 3 knots sets there; vessels proceed on the right-hand side.

The peninsula shelters the marina from the bora, and a floating concrete breakwater keeps out the south wind.

Split airport is roughly 50 kilometres away, Zadar roughly 75 kilometres. The marina has a supermarket, a restaurant, a cash machine and free parking.

Besides Marina Mandalina, Šibenik has the town harbour in front of the old town and a small marina in the holiday resort south of the city.

Where is Marina Mandalina in Šibenik?

Marina Mandalina lies in the south-eastern, innermost part of Šibenik bay on the Mandalina peninsula, opposite the old town. It is roughly two kilometres as the crow flies to the cathedral in the historic centre, and a good kilometre and a half to the town harbour on the waterfront promenade.

Šibenik bay is an almost enclosed basin into which the Krka flows from the north and which is connected to the open sea to the west only via the Sv. Ante channel. The marina itself is protected on two sides: against the bora from the north-east by the peninsula, and against wind and swell from the south by a floating concrete breakwater. This also makes the marina a good berth when bad weather is passing through outside.

For arrival by taxi it is best to give "Marina Mandalina" or the address Obala Jerka Šižgorića 1. "Šibenik" alone is not enough, as the town harbour lies on the other side of the bay.

Marina Mandalina at a glance

Details

Position

roughly 43° 43′ N, 015° 54′ E

Operator

D-Marin (Marina Šibenik d.o.o.)

Address

Obala Jerka Šižgorića 1, 22000 Šibenik

Berths

452, including provision for megayachts, plus dry berths

Maximum draught

5,5 m

VHF channel

17

Maximum speed

2 kn

Travellift

50 t

Power

around the clock, up to 1,000 A for large yachts

Phone

+385 22 460 800 (office hours), emergency +385 91 391 7516

What does Marina Mandalina offer?

Marina Mandalina is a fully equipped marina with electricity and water around the clock, supermarket, restaurant, boatyard and technical services. It holds the Blue Flag and is under video surveillance around the clock.

Services ashore

Reception also has a bureau de change, with a cash machine next to it. A supermarket and restaurant are right in the marina, and a concierge is on hand for questions about your stay. Outdoor parking is free. Charter companies have their base in the marina, and agencies also look after megayachts.

Boatyard and Technical Services

The 50-tonne travel lift hauls yachts out of the water; for work ashore there are hard standings and a boatyard. The technical service undertakes engine and electrical work, air conditioning, batteries, antifouling and cleaning, and a chandler sells boat accessories. Major repairs and maintenance work at the berth are not permitted.

What you should clarify in advance

Whether the marina has a launderette, a pump-out station for holding tanks or its own fuel berth, enquire before entering on VHF channel 17 or by telephone. A fuel berth on the quay is located in Dumboka Bay in the city harbour; check beforehand whether it is open.

How do you enter Šibenik?

From seaward you come through the Sv. Ante channel into the bay of Šibenik. At the entrance stands the fortress of St Nicholas; in the channel you keep to the right and reckon with an outgoing current.

The channel is narrow, so the rule of the road there is to keep right. How strong the current is depends on how much water the Krka is bringing: with low flow up to about half a knot, after heavy rain up to 3 knots, usually setting seaward. When entering you therefore usually have it against you and should plan on a significantly lower speed over the ground. Off Cape Senišna keep about 80 metres' distance because of a shoal.

After the channel the bay opens out. The old town then lies ahead on the north shore, Marina Mandalina at the back in the southeast. Inside the marina itself you keep to the right-hand side of the fairway and no more than 2 knots. A boat leaving has right of way over a boat entering. According to the harbour regulations you monitor VHF channel 09 in the harbour area; arrival and departure notifications to the marina are on channel 17.

How do you berth at Marina Mandalina?

You notify the marina before entering on VHF channel 17 or by telephone and wait for clearance. A marinero directs you to your berth, where you make fast to the marina's mooring lines.

Registration at reception

After making fast you go straight to reception without delay. There you present the boat papers, the Croatian vignette (cruising permit for yachts in Croatian waters), identity documents and the crew list, as well as the certificate of competence for operating the yacht. The marinero notes the time of arrival and gives the skipper a copy.

Departure and harbour rules

Before casting off you notify the marina again on VHF channel 17 and disconnect power and water. If you leave the boat in the marina for longer than one day, you hand in the key at reception and receive a receipt for it. Before departure you collect the key and documents there again. The following also applies in the marina:

Swimming, diving, fishing and watersports are prohibited in the harbour.

Without a holding tank you use neither the heads nor the shower on board whilst in the harbour.

Bilge water, waste water and refuse do not go into the water; rubbish is taken in bags to the bins.

Generators are not run, naked flames and fireworks are prohibited, dogs must be kept on a lead.

Power and water connections are used with your own cable and hose.

What other harbours are there in Šibenik?

For yachts in Šibenik, besides Marina Mandalina there is also the city harbour in front of the old town and a small marina in the holiday resort south of the city. Both are considerably smaller and differently situated.

Feature

Marina Mandalina

Šibenik city harbour

Amadria Park Yacht Marina

Location

Mandalina peninsula, southeastern end of the bay

North shore of the bay, in front of the old town

Resort south of the city, outside the bay

Distance from Marina Mandalina (as the crow flies)

–

about 1.6 km

about 2.3 km

Size

452 berths

Quays for cruise ships and yachts

196 berths in the water

Boat size

including megayachts, up to 5.5 m draught

arrange with harbour authority

up to about 16 m length, 1.5 m draught

Town harbour in front of the old town

The town harbour lies directly on the waterfront promenade below the cathedral. It has several quays, including one for cruise ships and yachts and one for day-charter yachts. The harbour is open to the southwest and west; in winds from these directions conditions become uncomfortable for smaller boats. Whether and where you can moor as a visiting yacht must be arranged beforehand with the harbour authority.

Amadria Park Yacht Marina

The small marina belongs to the Amadria Park holiday resort south of Šibenik and was formerly called Solaris. It lies outside the Bay of Šibenik on the coast. With 196 berths in the water for boats up to 15 or 16 metres and a draught of up to 1.5 metres, it is mainly intended for smaller boats. There is a supermarket, a restaurant and a 5-tonne crane.

Good to know for your first day at Marina Mandalina

You can do your first shop at the marina's supermarket, without a taxi and without carrying luggage. For a large shop you take a taxi or hire car into town.

Shopping and provisions

The supermarket is in the marina itself and is therefore the nearest shop on foot. Larger supermarkets can be found in Šibenik town, a few minutes by car. Which shop is most conveniently located and whether a delivery service brings provisions to the marina is best asked at reception or from the concierge.

Parking and money

Anyone arriving by car can park free of charge in the marina's open-air car parks. You can get cash at the cash machine in the marina; you can also change money at reception.

Doctor and pharmacy

In summer the Šibenik-Knin County health centre runs its own outpatient clinic for tourists. The season, address and opening hours are set afresh each year; you can get the current details from reception. Pharmacies can be found in town. In a life-threatening emergency you call the emergency services.

Emergency numbers in Croatia

112: general emergency number, free from all networks

194: ambulance, 192: police, 193: fire brigade

195: sea rescue (MRCC Rijeka), at sea also VHF channel 16

How do you get to Marina Mandalina?

The nearest airports are Split and Zadar. Split Airport is about 50 kilometres away, Zadar about 75 kilometres; you can reach the motorway from the marina in about ten minutes.

Without a hire car you take the airport bus into the respective town and from its bus station take one of the regular buses to Šibenik. From Šibenik bus station the easiest way to cover the last stretch to the marina is by taxi. The railway station is near the bus station; trains come mainly from Split and Zagreb. Timetables and tickets for long-distance buses can be found at the bus company, for trains at the Croatian railways.

Which marine weather forecast applies in Šibenik?

For Šibenik the marine weather forecast from the Split Marine Weather Centre applies, which belongs to the Croatian Meteorological Service DHMZ. You can read it on the weather service's website, also in German, or listen to it on VHF.

The report gives first warnings and the weather situation, then the forecast for wind, sea state and visibility for twelve hours and an outlook for the following twelve hours, with details for the northern, central and southern Adriatic. Šibenik lies in the central part. The coast radio station Split Radio broadcasts weather reports and warning messages in English and Croatian at 05:45, 12:45, 19:45 and 00:45 UTC on VHF channels 07, 21, 23, 28, 81 and 84, so in summer two hours later local time, in winter one hour later.

In summer the weather on the central Adriatic is usually stable; by day the wind regularly blows from seaward. In the cold half of the year bora and jugo are more frequent and stronger. An overview of the wind systems is given in the article on main winds in the Mediterranean.

Where can you go from Šibenik?

Many islands lie close together off Šibenik; you can reach the first destinations after just a few nautical miles. When day sailing you should factor into your plan the passage through the Sv. Ante Channel and a possible counter-current on the return.

The distances are rounded over-water routes on the usual course from Marina Mandalina; for precise planning the chart applies.

Exit of Sv. Ante Channel: about 2 nm. You are only on open water beyond the fortress of St Nicholas.

Zlarin and Prvić: each about 4 nm. The two small islands lie directly off the channel exit and are suitable for a short first leg.

Vodice: about 6 nm northwest, passing between Prvić and the mainland.

Skradin: about 9 nm up the Krka through the bay and Lake Prokljan. From Skradin, boats run from April to October operated by Krka National Park to the Skradinski buk waterfall; on foot or by bicycle it is 3.4 kilometres.

Primošten: around 11 nm south along the coast.

Further out lie the Kornati, a national park with many small islands, which lends itself to a long day passage or a trip over several days. North of Šibenik lies Marina Drage near Pakoštane, south in Central Dalmatia the Marina Kaštela and the marinas in Trogir.

What can you do ashore in Šibenik?

Šibenik has no fewer than two UNESCO World Heritage sites, plus four fortresses and a compact old town.
