Here you can read about the marina's facilities, how to enter and berth, how to get there, what you need to know for the first day and which sailing destinations you can reach from here.

The essentials at a glance

Marina Veruda has 630 berths on water at 19 pontoons and around 250 places ashore. It takes yachts up to 40 metres in length and 4 metres draught and offers protection from wind and waves.

Before entering you report on VHF channel 17. The speed limit in the marina is 2 knots maximum, anchoring is prohibited.

A food shop, fuel station, restaurant, laundry and swimming pool are located within the marina itself.

Pula Airport lies only a few kilometres away. You can reach Pula by train from Slovenia.

The Brijuni Islands and Cape Kamenjak can be reached with a short hop, Rovinj, Unije and Lošinj with a day sail.

Where is Marina Veruda in Pula?

Marina Veruda lies on the eastern shore of Veruda Bay, around 4 kilometres as the crow flies south of Pula's old town. To the west the Verudela peninsula bounds the bay, to the east the marina extends as far as the sandy bay of Pješčana uvala.

The complex stretches around 1,500 metres along the shore, amongst olive trees and Mediterranean greenery. In the bay you lie well protected from wind and waves. The marina is open all year round and has held the Blue Flag, the environmental award for harbours and beaches, for more than twenty years.

There are other facilities in Pula: In the harbour in front of the old town there are dedicated yacht berths, and directly opposite Marina Veruda, on the Verudela peninsula, lies the smaller harbour Bunarina. When ordering a taxi, therefore, it's best to say "Marina Veruda" or give the address Cesta prekomorskih brigada 12.

Marina Veruda at a glance

Details

Position

44° 50,35′ N, 013° 50,58′ E

Operator

Tehnomont, Pula

Address

Cesta prekomorskih brigada 12, 52100 Pula

Berths

630 on water at 19 pontoons, around 250 ashore

Boat length

up to 40 m, also megayachts by arrangement

Maximum draught

4 m

VHF channel

17 (Marineros), harbour office channel 16

Maximum speed

2 kn

Electricity and water

at every pontoon, 220 and 380 V

Cranes

10 t and 30 t, craning up to 27 t and 2.9 m draught

Reception

daily 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., break 1:30 to 2 p.m.

Phone

+385 52 224 034, marinero on duty +385 98 297 160

What does Marina Veruda offer?

Marina Veruda is a fully equipped year-round marina with fuel station, grocery shop, restaurant, laundry, swimming pool and its own crane service. For small items you don't need to leave the site.

Services ashore

The sanitary facilities are spread across five buildings throughout the marina, including accessible toilets. The central sanitary building houses a laundry where you can wash, dry and iron. At reception you can exchange money, there's a cash machine next door, and you can also book hire cars and bicycles through reception. Wi-Fi is free throughout the marina.

The Volaria restaurant sits right on the water with a large terrace; next to it are a swimming pool and a small playground. A bar overlooking the bay opens in the morning for coffee and in the evening for a glass of wine. You'll find a chandlery near reception, and there's also a diving centre. If you arrive by electric car, you can charge at one of the four charging stations.

Fuel and technical facilities

The marina's fuel berth sells diesel and petrol (Super 95). You can refill gas bottles at a gas filling station about 500 metres before the marina entrance. With two cranes and two boat transporters, yachts up to 27 tonnes and 2.9 metres draught can be lifted out of the water. Book your appointment at least one week in advance in writing or by e-mail at reception; the final arrangement is made with the head of the technical department. Antifouling, hull cleaning and stepping and unstepping the mast are carried out by the marina itself; for repairs to engine, electrics, hull, sails and rigging there are partner companies.

How do you enter Veruda Bay?

The marina lies at the back of Veruda Bay on the eastern shore. Three landmarks help you on entry: the monastery on the small island of Veruda in the bay, the marina's office building, and the light on the head of the floating breakwater, a red column.

Call ahead on VHF channel 17 or by telephone before entering. The marineros will tell you which pontoon to go to. Channel 16 is the distress and calling channel for the harbour office; for the marina itself you use channel 17. In the marina you travel at no more than 2 knots, and even slower at the "Reduce speed now" signs.

How do you berth at Marina Veruda?

You normally berth stern-to at the berth assigned to you by the marinero. A bow anchor is not necessary, as anchoring is prohibited in the marina.

The berths are equipped with mooring lines which are made fast at the bow. The marinero will help you berth and explain what applies to your berth. Prepare your own stern lines and fenders on both sides before entering. The harbour regulations require undamaged lines and sufficient fenders. Anyone who does not make fast securely will be moved at their own expense. You lie alongside only on request, and then the berth costs double.

Registration at reception

After making fast, go to reception or report to the marinero on the pontoon. There you show the boat papers, proof of insurance, proof of ownership or right of use, identification documents and the crew list. Anyone entering Croatia with a yacht pays the maritime safety fee for the current calendar year, plus tourist tax. How and where you pay both and have the crew list stamped, you'll learn from the harbour office.

A berth day for a yacht from 12 to 12.99 metres costs 126 euros. This includes the sanitary facilities, electricity via a 16-amp socket, water and one parking space per boat (as of October 2026). The current price list is available on the marina's website.

Departure and regulations in the marina

Report every departure in advance, and pay all bills before leaving. If the boat stays in the marina longer than one day without you, let them know as well. The following also applies in the marina:

Swimming, diving and fishing are prohibited in the harbour basin.

Black water and grey water must not be discharged into the harbour basin; empty chemical toilets only at the designated point.

Quiet hours are between 22:00 and 08:00.

Work on boats is only permitted in designated areas and with written consent from reception.

Open flames are prohibited, engines and equipment must not run unattended, dogs must be kept on a lead.

Good to know for your first day at Marina Veruda

For small items the Marymat grocery shop in the marina is sufficient. For the big weekly shop you drive by car or taxi to one of the supermarkets in town.

Shopping and provisions

The nearest shop on foot is the Marymat grocery shop, right next to the Volaria restaurant. There you can get groceries and fresh produce. Whether the shop is open outside the season, ask at reception. Larger supermarkets are in the city area. Closest is the Max City shopping centre at Ulica Stoja 14 with a Plodine store, about 3 kilometres as the crow flies from the marina and a few minutes by car. It's open Monday to Saturday from 07:00 to 22:00; it's closed on Sundays. There's also a hypermarket with car park at the City Mall shopping centre at Rimske centurijacije 101. Whether a delivery service brings provisions directly to the marina, ask at reception.

Parking

For guests with their own boat, the car park is between pontoons 1 and 12. If you're only coming for a trip, park on the right at the entrance by the hardstanding. The first 150 minutes are free; after that a car costs 18 euros per day or 85 euros per week. You can pay at the barrier, at the machine or at reception. Coaches and caravan combinations are not allowed on site.

Doctor, hospital and pharmacy

The General Hospital Pula at Santoriova 24A has an accident and emergency department. For minor complaints there is a public tourist clinic at Flanatička 27. The Centar pharmacy at Giardini 14 is open 24 hours. Outside surgery hours, the emergency medical stations of the Istria County Institute for Emergency Medicine treat patients around the clock.

Emergency numbers in Croatia

112: general emergency number, free from all networks

194: ambulance, 192: police, 193: fire brigade

195: sea rescue (MRCC Rijeka), at sea also VHF channel 16

How do you get to Marina Veruda?

The fastest route is via Pula airport, which is about 5 kilometres from the city centre. Travel by train or coach to Pula and take a taxi for the last leg.

By air

A shuttle bus runs from Pula airport to the bus station in town to connect with flights. It departs about 30 minutes after landing and costs 6 euros. From the bus station to the marina is about 4 kilometres as the crow flies; take a taxi for the last stretch. Other airports are considerably further away: Rijeka about 135 kilometres, Trieste about 165, Ljubljana about 220, Zagreb about 270 and Venice about 275 kilometres.

By train and bus

Pula has a railway station but services are sparse. From Slovenia travel via Ljubljana, changing at Divača and Buzet; from Zagreb via Rijeka with one section by coach. In summer there are additional trains from Ljubljana. Timetables and connections can be found on the Istria Tourist Board travel page. From the railway station or bus station take a taxi to the marina.

By car

From the west and north come via Trieste, Koper and Buje to Pula; from the east via Rijeka, the Učka Tunnel and Pazin.

Which marine weather forecast applies in Pula?

For Pula the marine weather forecast issued by the Croatian Meteorological and Hydrological Service (DHMZ) for the Adriatic applies. You can read it on the weather service website, also in German, or listen to it on VHF.

The forecast gives warnings and the general weather situation first, then the forecast for wind, sea state and visibility for twelve hours plus an outlook for the following twelve hours. Pula lies in the northern part of the Adriatic. Rijeka Radio coastal station broadcasts weather reports and navigational warnings in English and Croatian at 05:30, 12:30, 19:30 and 00:30 UTC on VHF channels 04, 19, 20, 23, 24, 81 and 85 — two hours later local time in summer. The marina also posts a daily weather forecast in Croatian, English, German and Italian on the board outside reception.

In summer the weather on the Adriatic is usually stable, with a sea breeze blowing during the day. In the colder half of the year bora and jugo occur more frequently and more strongly. Before a passage across the Kvarner to Unije or Lošinj it is therefore worth checking the warnings. An overview of the wind systems is given in the article on main winds in the Mediterranean.

Which cruising destinations lie near Marina Veruda?

From Marina Veruda you can sail north to the Brijuni Islands and the west coast of Istria, or south-east across the Kvarner to the islands of Unije, Cres and Lošinj. Distances are rounded sea distances over the usual course from the marina; for exact planning use the chart.

Cape Kamenjak: about 6 nm to the south.
