It is only a few minutes' walk to the old town with shops, banks and restaurants.

The site of around 100,000 square metres includes a large shipyard for yachts and more than 80 shops, restaurants and terraces at the quay. Around Puerto Naos lies the old harbour quarter with chandlers and fishing supplies.

Feature

Details

Approach point

28° 57,951′ N, 013° 32,272′ W

Operator

Calero Marinas

Berths

380 at floating finger pontoons, for boats from 4 to 60 m

Depth of approach

at least 4.3 m (dredged)

VHF channel

09 (marina), around the clock

Electricity and water

at berth, 220/380 V, drinking water from seawater desalination

Travellifts

820 t and 100 t

Marina office

daily 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., opposite pier K

Contact

Avenida Olof Palme s/n, 35500 Arrecife, telephone +34 928 663 263

How do you berth at Marina Lanzarote?

You call ahead on VHF channel 09 before entering and are given your berth. The marina team will be waiting at your berth to help with the lines.

Channel 16 is the distress and calling channel, which is also monitored by sea rescue. For the marina itself, use channel 09; you can reach the office by telephone on +34 928 663 263. For arriving yachts, visitor berths are currently at the heads of piers K, J and I. After checking in, you will move to your allocated berth.

You moor alongside floating finger pontoons. Before entering, prepare bow and stern lines, springs and fenders on both sides, as you will only find out which side the finger pontoon is on when you receive your berth allocation.

What do you pay attention to on the approach?

There is a reef off the coast of Arrecife. Therefore, keep about half a nautical mile offshore and stay in the buoyed channel later on.

Good landmarks are the brightly lit power station with the gas tanks from the north, and the tall Gran Hotel on the waterfront promenade from the south. From the south, you leave the airport to port and keep clear of the buoys off the tanker terminal. Behind the breakwater of Puerto Naos, you head for the red-green channel buoy at the end of the container pier and turn to port into the channel, with the Castillo de San José ahead. Two buoys with red and green lights lead to the pontoons on the port side. The lighting is shown on Spanish chart number 6010.

What applies after mooring?

After berthing, you check in at the marina office. You fill in the marina registration form and a border police form, both of which are also available in advance. For this you need copies of the boat registration certificate, proof of insurance and the passport of the owner or skipper.

The border police are located at Los Mármoles harbour and are open on weekdays in the mornings until 2 p.m. If you need an entry stamp, for example upon arrival from outside the Schengen area, each person must appear in person with their passport. You can enquire about berths and prices via the marina's website is suitable.

What facilities does Marina Lanzarote offer?

The marina offers electricity and drinking water at berth, free Wi-Fi, showers, a laundry and a security service. There is also a large boatyard and chandleries.

You open the showers with the marina card. In the self-service laundry, washing machines and dryers run on coins; you can also leave laundry to be washed at the office. At the marina office you can borrow luggage trolleys, hire a storage room and have post sent to you. You can reach the security team directly at the pontoon or on channel 09.

For work ashore, the boatyard has two travel lifts for 820 and 100 tonnes. The wider slipway basin measures 14.5 metres and can therefore accommodate large catamarans as well. Workshops for sails, rigging, engines, electronics, welding and GRP are based in Arrecife or in Puerto Calero; the boatyard office can arrange appointments. A chandlery with charts and harbour pilots is located by the marina office; further marine suppliers can be found a few minutes' walk away in the harbour district of Puerto Naos.

Between car parks 2 and 3 there is an information office where you can also hire cars and bicycles.

Can you refuel at Marina Lanzarote? (As at: October 2026)

A dedicated fuel berth at the marina has been announced, but whether it is already in operation was not last confirmed. This can change quickly, so before arriving ask on channel 09 or by telephone whether you can refuel directly at the marina. The nearest fuel berth on the water is at Puerto Calero, about 11 nautical miles to the south-west.

The fuel berth at Puerto Calero is open daily from 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. If no one is at the berth, call on channel 09; payment is by cash or card. The marina office in Arrecife can arrange larger quantities by tanker.

Useful to know for your first day at Marina Lanzarote

You can shop on foot in Arrecife; for larger shopping trips, supermarkets also deliver to the marina. The island's hospital is in the town; in an emergency, dial 112.

Shopping and provisions

A supermarket is located in the old town at the end of Calle Real, Arrecife's shopping street. A discount supermarket next to a large furniture store is about 15 minutes' walk away.

For the weekly shopping, two larger supermarkets are located on Calle Pérez Galdós. You'll get there quickly by taxi or hire car, but both also deliver to the marina. Give your pontoon and berth number when ordering. On Saturday mornings there's a market at Plaza de Las Palmas next to the San Ginés church, including fresh produce.

Gas for the Galley

You can exchange small Campingaz bottles of 2.8 kilograms at the chandlery by the marina office. Other bottles, including those with British or Scandinavian fittings, can be refilled through reception at a gas depot in Arrecife. Allow two days for this.

Parking and Getting Around

The marina has its own car parks. In town there is also an underground car park with 900 spaces at Parque Islas Canarias on the waterfront promenade. You can order taxis by phone or through the marina staff.

Doctor and pharmacy

The island's public hospital, Hospital Universitario Doctor José Molina Orosa, is in Arrecife. The rota for the province of Las Palmas, which includes Lanzarote, shows which pharmacy is on duty at night and weekends.

Emergency numbers in Spain

112: free emergency number 24 hours a day for ambulance, police, fire brigade and sea rescue, also available in English and German in the Canary Islands

900 202 202: free emergency number for sea rescue Salvamento Marítimo, from a telephone

VHF Channel 16: distress call at sea. Do not rely on your mobile phone out there, the network can fail at sea.

+34 648 524649: marina emergency telephone, also available in the harbour on channel 09

Sea rescue is coordinated by Salvamento Marítimo. Their centre in Las Palmas is responsible for the eastern part of the Canary Islands and therefore also for Lanzarote.

How do you get to Marina Lanzarote?

César Manrique-Lanzarote Airport is about 7 kilometres west of the marina; by car you'll be there in about twelve minutes. Buses and taxis also run there.

By Air, Bus and Taxi

From the airport, line 22 runs to Arrecife Monday to Friday, and at weekends line 23 via Playa Honda. The buses stop at the bus station at the western end of El Reducto beach. From there you walk about 2.5 kilometres along the waterfront promenade eastwards to the marina. With luggage for a sailing trip, a taxi from the airport is usually more convenient; taxis wait at the rank outside the arrivals area. Timetables and fares change, so check the island bus website before your trip.

By car

From the airport, follow the LZ-2 dual carriageway and signs for Arrecife, then the coastal road eastwards. After the bridge with the San Gabriel fortress on your right, signs lead to the marina.

Which marine weather forecast applies off Lanzarote?

The authoritative one is the sea area forecast from the Spanish meteorological service AEMET. You receive it via VHF marine radio from the sea rescue service Salvamento Marítimo, via NAVTEX and on the AEMET website.

For coastal waters up to 20 nautical miles off the coast, AEMET divides the Canary Islands into forecast areas. Lanzarote, together with Fuerteventura, forms the area "Coastal waters of Lanzarote and Fuerteventura". The coastal report is issued twice a day and covers the following day with an outlook for the day after.

Salvamento Marítimo broadcasts the coastal forecast regularly on VHF; channels and transmission times are on their website. With a NAVTEX receiver you'll automatically receive bulletins from Las Palmas station, in English on 518 kHz and in Spanish on 490 kHz. You can also read the current report on the AEMET sea weather page.

The trade winds prevail in the Canary Islands, a wind from a northeasterly direction. In spring and summer it usually blows more strongly, in autumn and winter more gently. In the marina you lie sheltered behind the Puerto Naos breakwater. For passages northwards along the east coast, however, the trade winds often mean beating against wind and sea.

What sailing destinations are near Arrecife?

From Arrecife you sail along the south coast of Lanzarote, across to Fuerteventura or north to the island of La Graciosa. The distances are rounded over-water distances on the usual course; for exact planning the chart applies.

Destination

over water from Marina Lanzarote

Note

Puerto Calero (Lanzarote)

approx. 11 nm

along the southeast coast towards the southwest

Marina Rubicón, Playa Blanca (Lanzarote)

about 19 nm

along the coast, round Punta de Papagayo

Corralejo (Fuerteventura)

about 24 nm

along the south coast, then across the La Bocaina strait

Caleta de Sebo (La Graciosa)

about 24 nm

along the east coast northwards, around the northern tip of Lanzarote into the El Río strait

Lanzarote and Fuerteventura

Puerto Calero is a short first leg to get to know boat and crew. If you allow a full day's sailing, continue to Playa Blanca at the southern tip. From there it's only a short hop across the La Bocaina strait to Corralejo in northern Fuerteventura. The harbour at Corralejo is small and has ferry traffic, so enquire about a berth for the night in advance.

La Graciosa

The small island of La Graciosa lies north of Lanzarote, separated by the narrow El Río strait. It belongs to a nature reserve with a marine protected area. You apply for a berth in the harbour of Caleta de Sebo in advance online with Puertos Canarios, the Canary Islands port authority, submitting copies of your passport, boat registration and insurance documents.

Strict rules apply to anchoring (as at October 2026). Anchoring on seagrass beds is prohibited, especially in the protected area in the El Río strait. Off the island's beaches, such as Playa Francesa, you need permission from the environmental department of Lanzarote's island administration, which you apply for around 30 days in advance. Fixed mooring buoys are also planned at Playa Francesa. The rules may therefore change, so check with the island administration before your trip to find out what currently applies.

On to other islands

Las Palmas on Gran Canaria is around 115 nautical miles across the water, an overnight passage. You can read about what to expect there in our feature Las Palmas harbour for sailors. To Marina Quinta do Lorde on Madeira it's around 290 nautical miles.

What is there to see ashore in Arrecife?

Arrecife has a small old town around a lagoon, two fortresses on the waterfront and a town beach. More than enough for a harbour day.

Distances are as the crow flies from the marina; walking times are approximate.

Charco de San Ginés

The saltwater lagoon lies in the old fishing quarter, a few minutes' walk from the marina. This is where the first fishing settlement began, from which the town grew. Today small boats lie in the Charco, with bars and restaurants all around. On Wednesdays and Thursdays a flea market takes place around the lagoon.

Church of San Ginés

The church in the San Ginés quarter dates back to a chapel from 1630 and is dedicated to the town's patron saint.

Castillo de San José

The late 18th-century fortress stands on the bay of Puerto Naos, around 1.3 kilometres from the marina, about 20 to 25 minutes on foot along the harbour. The artist César Manrique redesigned it in the 1970s, and since 1976 it has housed a museum of contemporary art. The museum is open daily, with a restaurant overlooking the harbour.

Castillo de San Gabriel and Puente de las Bolas

The small fortress stands on an island off the old town, around 900 metres from the marina. You reach it via the stone bridge Puente de las Bolas, a well-known landmark of the town. Inside, a museum displays the history of Arrecife. It's about a 15-minute walk.

El Reducto beach

The town beach lies around 2 kilometres west of the marina and is sheltered by offshore reefs. It has showers, toilets and beach bars. The waterfront promenade leads there along the water.

Trips departing from Arrecife on Törnfinder

Trips starting in Arrecife can be found in the trip overview.
