- From Kiel Hauptbahnhof (main railway station) the express bus 102 runs Monday to Friday in just over half an hour to the terminus \"Laboe, Hafen\". In summer the fjord ferry from Kiel also calls directly at the harbour.<\/li>\n
- The nearest large airport is Hamburg. From there the Kielius airport bus runs direct to Kiel without changes.<\/li>\n
- There is a car park at the harbour, where the bus also stops. You can reach two supermarkets within a few minutes' walk.<\/li>\n
- From mid-June onwards the water off the fjord is on average warmer than 15 degrees for a good three months; in spring and autumn it is noticeably cooler on board.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
Where is Laboe Marina?<\/h2>\n
The marina lies at the southern end of Laboe's beach promenade, on B\u00f6rn street. To the north the sandy beach stretches as far as the Naval Memorial, which you can already see from the harbour. Opposite on the western shore lie Strande and Schilksee; to the south the fjord narrows at Friedrichsort into the inner fjord with the city of Kiel.<\/p>\n
The harbour has had its present form since 1972. A central pier divides it into two basins, each with its own entrance. Alongside the yachts lie fishing cutters and the lifeboat of the German Maritime Search and Rescue Service (Deutsche Gesellschaft zur Rettung Schiffbr\u00fcchiger). You can reach the town centre, shops and fish snack bars on foot from the pontoon. Other marinas on the eastern shore are M\u00f6ltenort further south and Marina Wendtorf to the northeast of Laboe.<\/p>\n

From Hamburg Airport to Laboe<\/h3>\n
The nearest large airport is Hamburg, roughly 85 kilometres as the crow flies south of Laboe. The simplest option is the Kielius airport bus: it runs daily from the airport via Neum\u00fcnster to Kiel, from March onwards up to 19 times a day, in winter every two hours.<\/p>\n
By rail you take the S-Bahn line S1, which runs every ten minutes from the airport to Hamburg Hauptbahnhof in around 25 minutes, and there change to a train to Kiel. From the airport to Kiel Hauptbahnhof you are travelling for at least 1 hour and 39 minutes. From Kiel you continue by bus or ferry to Laboe.<\/p>\n
By car, train, bus or ferry<\/h3>\n
By car you reach Laboe from Kiel via the A 215 and the B 502 on the eastern shore of the fjord; the journey from Kiel takes about 20 minutes. Between Hamburg and Kiel around 40 trains run each day, most without changes, the fastest taking just over an hour.<\/p>\n
From Kiel Hauptbahnhof the express bus 102 runs via the B 502 to Laboe. It starts at Kiel ZOB (central bus station), stops at the Hauptbahnhof and from there takes around 32 minutes to the terminus \"Laboe, Hafen\". Monday to Friday it runs roughly every 30 minutes; not at weekends or on public holidays. From the harbour further bus routes run to Kiel. You can find current timetables on the local transport network NAH.SH<\/a>.<\/p>\n
More pleasant is the journey by water: in summer the fjord ferry F1 runs several times a day from the Bahnhofsbr\u00fccke directly by Kiel Hauptbahnhof across the fjord to Laboe, calling directly at the harbour. The journey takes around an hour; en route the ferry stops at M\u00f6ltenort, among other places.<\/p>\n
Parking<\/h3>\n
There is a car park at the harbour, where the bus stop \"Laboe, Hafen\" is also located. The harbour provides handcarts for luggage and provisions. A taxi company has its base at the harbour.<\/p>\n
Showers and sanitary facilities<\/h3>\n
Showers are available in the harbour's sanitary facilities, separate for ladies and gentlemen. There are also a washing machine and dryer as well as sinks for washing up.<\/p>\n
Shopping for the trip<\/h3>\n
An EDEKA and an Aldi are on Bullbr\u00fccke street, both within a few minutes' walk of the harbour. For the main shop before the start of your trip these two supermarkets are sufficient; you don't need a car for it. You can also get drinks at a drinks shop in the village, and fresh rolls at two bakeries. In season the harbour kiosk also serves breakfast.<\/p>\n
Right by the harbour several fish snack bars sell fish rolls, including a smokehouse at the harbour and a kiosk on the north mole.<\/p>\n
Doctor, pharmacy and emergency services<\/h3>\n
There are two pharmacies in Laboe, one in Oberdorf and one at Dellenberg, plus GP practices in the village. An accident and emergency department is at the Universit\u00e4tsklinikum Schleswig-Holstein, Campus Kiel, at Arnold-Heller-Stra\u00dfe 3 on the other side of the fjord.<\/p>\n

The marina accommodates yachts up to 25 metres in length, 5 metres in beam and 4 metres in draught. Electricity, drinking water and Wi-Fi are available at all berths.<\/p>\n
