The coastal village has a strong medieval character, with a beach nearby and tavernas and bars close at hand.

Limeni lies further south on the coast of the Mani. The village nestles against the turquoise water with its cobbled lanes and tavernas. Today, Koroni is the only castle in Messenia that is still inhabited.

Methoni

Methoni lies at the southernmost tip of the western Peloponnese. At the southern entrance to the bay stands the Niokastro fortress, built by the Ottomans in 1573. In 1827, the fleets of Britain, France and Russia defeated the Ottoman-Egyptian fleet here in the Battle of Navarino. Every summer, the castle comes to life with the Kalamata International Dance Festival.

Old town: The old town stretches out around the castle. It is a popular meeting place, and a large part of the nightlife takes place here.

City beach and Navarinou Street: The beach, about 2.5 kilometres long, begins east of the harbour. Navarinou, the street along the seafront, is ideal for a stroll, a bike ride or a dip in the sea.

Railway Park: The city's Railway Park begins about 500 metres north-east of the marina and runs north past the old station.
