From the comfort of your sofa you discover new sailing areas, get involved in trip planning, weather the next storm together, follow countless minor and major repairs on the yacht and share the protagonists' joy when their sailing adventure goes well. But above all, many of the sailing video bloggers featured here are living a life that many dream of for their own future.

We set out to find the most popular international sailing video blogs. The ranking is based on the YouTube subscriber numbers of the respective channels (as at the end of January 2022).

1. Sailing La Vagabonde (1,680,000 subscribers)

The Australians Riley and Elayna are the stars of the sailing video blogger scene. It all began in the year 2014 when Riley, still sailing solo in Greece at the time, discovered Elayna whilst playing guitar on the beach. Elayna decided spontaneously to come sailing and shortly afterwards the first video was posted online. Their videos soon achieved cult status and the number of subscribers rose rapidly. For seven years now we have been following the couple on their journey through the world's oceans. First on a simple Monohull (a Beneteau Cyclades 43), then on a catamaran (an Outremer 45) and soon on a Trimaran (a Rapido 60). In the meantime they have transported Greta Thunberg across the Atlantic and the crew has grown with their two children.

Sailing La Vagabonde

2. Sailing SV Delos (768,000 subscribers)

The sailing yacht Delos was bought back in 2008 by Brian Trautman . However, financing the sailing trips and adventures through YouTube videos only began a few years later. By now over 70,000 nautical miles have been covered, 45 countries visited and several oceans crossed. For many years Brian has been accompanied by his brother Brady. On the way the two brothers met their wives Karin and Alex Blue . Together the four form the core of the Delos crew. Additional crew members are also taken on board from time to time, contributing to sailing, boat maintenance and filming.

Sailing SV Delos

3. Gone with the Wynns (499,000 subscribers)

Jason and Nikky Wynn left their everyday lives behind in 2011 to satisfy their thirst for adventure. For the first five years they travelled on a road trip through North America. In 2016 the two decided to buy a sailing boat, without any prior experience. Being underqualified and overly optimistic is, by their own account, their norm. Since starting their sailing voyage they have made it almost halfway around the world.

Gone with the Wynns

4. Sailing Doodles (443,000 subscribers)

5. Sailing Zatar (399,000 subscribers)

6. Sailing Uma (390,000 subscribers)

7. Sailing Nahoa (348,000 subscribers)

8. Wild We Roam (320,000 subscribers)

9. Sailing Miss Lonestar (249,000 subscribers)

10. Odd life crafting (239,000 subscribers)

11. Sailing Project Atticus (239,000 subscribers)

12. SV Seeker (204,000 subscribers)

13. Sailing Parlay Revival (198,000 subscribers)

14. Taylor's Travel (196,000 subscribers)

15. Erik Aanderaa (174,000 subscribers)

16. MJ Sailing (169,000 subscribers)

17. Acorn to Arabella (165,000 subscribers)

18. Tula's Endless Summer (157,000 subscribers)

19. Sam Holmes Sailing (154,000 subscribers)

20. Sailing Ruby Rose (148,000 subscribers)

21. Captain Rick Moore (146,000 subscribers)

22. Lazy Gecko Sailing & Adventures (140,000 subscribers)

23. Sailing Good, Bad and Ugly (137,000 subscribers)

24. Free Range Sailing (130,000 subscribers)

25. Expedtion Drenched (129,000 subscribers)

26. RAN Sailing (128,000 subscribers)

27. The Sailing Frenchman (127,000 subscribers)

28. Hasthag Sal (127,000 subscribers)

29. Sailing Nandji – Frothlyfe (124,000 subscribers)

30. Sailing Magic Carpet (118,000 subscribers)

31. Sailing Zingaro (115,000 subscribers)

Is a popular video blog missing?
