Collecting miles for your licence, enjoying a night passage, practising boat handling, or simply LOTS OF SAILING - there are plenty of reasons to book this very trip: from Rügen to southern Sweden – sailing between Baltic islands and skerries. The trip combines sporty sailing with relaxed time ashore.
We start in Seedorf auf Rügen and set course across the Baltic towards southern Sweden. On the trip you can expect varied passages, small island harbours, Swedish coastal towns and the special sailing area of the southern Swedish skerries. Depending on weather and wind, routes may include Bornholm, the Ertholmene Islands, Utklippan, the island of Hanö and on to Ystad, before returning to Rügen.
Bornholm combines Danish island character with a varied coastal landscape. Small harbours, colourful houses, cliffs and short walks ashore make the island a popular stopover. Even more untouched are the Ertholmene Islands Christiansø and Frederiksø. The historic fortifications, narrow paths and tiny harbour convey the feeling of having arrived at a very special place in the middle of the Baltic. Here you can experience the maritime life of the islands particularly well.
Next comes Utklippan, a destination we consider one of the trip's special stops. The small, outlying group of islands lies far off the Swedish coast. The sheltered harbour, the barren landscape and the lighthouse make a stop here a contrast to the larger coastal towns.
On the island of Hanö, the Swedish Baltic coast shows yet another side. The small harbour lies in a sheltered bay from which you can explore the island on foot. Between rocks, forest and coastal paths, the trip combines well here with a walk ashore.
Ystad, finally, offers a classic Swedish harbour town with a historic old quarter, narrow lanes and painted houses. After days at sea, a stroll through town is a welcome change.
A special experience is anchoring in the Swedish skerries. Instead of lying in a conventional harbour, we look for a suitable bay between rocks and islands. The boat lies sheltered in a natural harbour whilst ashore there is scarcely more to see than rocks, forest and the odd house.
Sailing experience is not required. Of course, anyone who wishes can lend a hand with sail handling or take the helm. Navigation, seamanship, weather lore - we're happy to pass on our knowledge. There's always something to experience and learn - for newcomers just as much as for "habitual sailors".
On such a long trip as this, the weather plays a very special role. Should sailing conditions become too rough, we'll look together for alternative destinations.
As with all our trips, the loan of offshore sailing clothing is included as a matter of course!
A trip for women and men who love the sea!
