We had a lovely trip with good wind and sunshine.
There was a small problem with the charter boat's power supply – the onboard battery was no longer charging, having apparently failed over the winter months. After speaking with the charter company, a new battery was fitted in Murter, and we were able to continue our trip on a slightly altered route, but with the reassurance of a reliable power supply.
In January we sailed southwards through the eastern Caribbean: from Martinique via St. Lucia, St. Vincent, Bequia, the Tobago Cays, Canouan and Mustique. Fast passages, turquoise anchorages, snorkelling with turtles, breathtaking sunsets and Basil's Bar made the trip unforgettable. Aboard the POGO 44 we even reached 14.6 knots under sail.
Intensive skipper training from Barcelona to Mallorca: precise harbour manoeuvres, professional anchoring, an impressive night passage by moonlight, and genuine man-overboard training in turquoise bays. A trip full of hands-on practice, adventure and real skipper experience.
How do you get from the Mediterranean to the Canary Islands?
Gibraltar is the obvious choice, but there's the issue with the orcas – so we looked for alternatives.
Although information on sailing in Morocco was hard to come by, we wanted to take this route.
Our trip took us from the south coast of Spain (Almeria) to the north coast of Morocco.
Our conclusion: despite some unfamiliar procedures – we'll be back, and can recommend it with a clear conscience: Morocco is worth the trip
In 16.5 days we sailed over 2,300 nautical miles from Sint Maarten to Horta. We experienced heeling, calms, whales, orcas, engine trouble, a spontaneous Atlantic baptism, a halfway party with cheese fondue and a little regatta with other crews. Despite the cold, tiredness and a Snickers crisis, our humour and team spirit stayed strong – and the MyWay brought us safely across the Atlantic.**
For five days we sailed on the IJsselmeer: our trip on a historic sailing ship took us from Enkhuizen via Urk, Lemmer, Stavoren and Medemblik through picturesque harbour towns steeped in history. Wind, waves and working together as a team gave us a real seafaring feeling. Strolling through town, fresh fish, sunshine and good company rounded off the trip – an unforgettable, perfectly organised sailing holiday full of maritime experiences.
Our sailing adventure in the South Pacific began in Tahiti – waterfalls, black beaches, rays and whales. We then sailed from Raiatea to Taha'a and Bora Bora: coral gardens, manta rays, sharks and sunsets on board. Finally, we visited vanilla and pearl farms – an unforgettable journey between the sea, islands and South Seas magic.
Our second week in Lofoten brought livelier weather, colder winds, and a larger, more dynamic crew. The focus was training: new co-skippers practised manoeuvres, navigation, and decision-making under real Arctic conditions. From quiet bays and steep fjords to rain-soaked evenings of games and hikes above Svolvær, every day was full of challenges and rewards. Lofoten revealed once more its many faces—wild, stunning, unforgettable.
From Preveza we set off on a Dufour 530 for an unforgettable sailing trip through the Ionian Sea. Highlights included Frikes on Ithaka with dinner at Ageri, the picturesque Assos on Kefalonia complete with castle views and the creative 3 Wise Monkeys, secluded bays with freshly caught fish, and Kalamos with a family evening at Varka. A perfect mix of sailing fun, indulgence and relaxation – the Ionian Sea shows its full diversity here!
Passed the SSS examination off Mallorca in May – despite days of storms and wet manoeuvre training. On exam day, challenging but manageable weather: everyone passed. Afterwards, delivery to Palma and sailed the 5,000th nautical mile – a perfect finale.
Our sailing adventure took us to the wild, breathtaking Lofoten Islands. From Harstad we explored fjord-lined coasts, secluded bays and the rarely visited west side of Langøya. We practised manoeuvres, saw dolphins and braved a quick dip in the icy Norwegian Sea. Highlights included Stø, the Hurtigruten Museum in Stokmarknes and hikes with views of Bjørnfjell and Andøya. The trip ended safely in Harstad – inspired and longing to return.
A sailing experience aboard a square-rigger. Relaxed cruising through the Danish South Sea aboard the barque Artemis. Starting and finishing at Tiessen Quay in Kiel-Holtenau. The route was determined by wind and weather and took us from Kiel to Eckernförde to ease us in. Over the following days we visited Danish harbours. The ship offers plenty of comfort and ample space for our 21 guests.
Summary of this trip: we felt very much at home on board! Thanks to the friendly and ever-helpful crew.
Trip report by a beginner on the Baltic Sea. First part from Kröslin to Karlskrona.
The start is difficult with partly challenging conditions (wind and waves) and seasickness.
But in the end Karlskrona is reached within the planned time frame. In Karlskrona we treat ourselves to a short break before continuing north through the Kalmar Sound.
The plan was a relaxed sailing trip from Pula – but a cooling water leak and the Bora delayed the start. Despite warnings and without a bow thruster, we headed to sea using a special manoeuvre. Ideal sailing weather led us via Rovinj and Savudria to Trieste. A brief visit from the Guardia di Finanza, then: espresso and courtesy flag – arrival successful.
Had an exciting skipper training trip on the IJsselmeer. From harbour manoeuvres with a small crew to mooring and casting off in wind, locks and man overboard drills – our team learnt a great deal and gained valuable experience.
The focus on manoeuvres with just two people on board, realistic rescue drills and safe handling in harbours makes this training excellent preparation for the SKS examination and sailing independently.
TRIP WITH A TAILWIND – OR: WHEN THE FORECAST LIES AND THE PIZZA HAS TO BE XL
Harbour Manoeuvres Intensive Training
It was supposed to be 3 training days in pouring rain. At least that's what the forecast promised – with horizontal rain, 10 degrees, 25 knots of wind. Sounds like the perfect recipe for soggy underwear and foul moods, right? But far from it! Instead: spring vibes...
Our ten-day sailing trip through the Caribbean on the Pogo 44 was an unforgettable adventure. We explored the Lesser Antilles, sailing at 8–9 knots and experiencing breathtaking landscapes. In Guadeloupe we discovered Les Saintes by electric moped and snorkelled in the Jacques Cousteau National Park. Antigua captivated us with Nelson's Dockyard and lively markets. In Dominica we enjoyed a beach BBQ and paddled on the Indian River. Every moment was unique!
First part of our voyage from Maasholm to the Ålands.
As almost always, 'our' trip begins with me alone. The rest of the crew will join in Figeholm, Sweden. Then we have an incredible 6 weeks to complete the voyage to the Ålands and back to Figeholm.
Unfortunately, Part 1 is a proper light-wind slog, but see for yourself:

In December 2023 we sailed our Lagoon 42 "Pirelli" non-stop from Tenerife to the Caribbean. Landfall in Sint Maarten and through the Anguilla Channel to the British Virgin Islands. 23.5 days and 3,097 nautical miles. With a crew of 4, a parasailor and a whole lot of fish on the line, we had a great time!
After our successful Pacific Cup campaign this summer, we spent the following month exploring the breathtaking islands of Hawaii aboard our sailing yacht. Our adventure began on Oahu at the 'sandbank' not far from Kaneohe Yacht Club. This stunning spot with crystal-clear water and abundant sea turtles lies nestled between the Pacific Ocean and the sheltered waters of Kaneohe Bay....

We had a wonderful trip from Kastela. First we sailed south to Dubrovnik and then north almost to Istria. A highlight was our day in force 6-7 winds sailing from Hvar up to Zadar. The weather was still fantastic. Good wind and daytime temperatures of up to 25 degrees.
Sailing SOUTH 2024 – A sailing expedition in Shackleton's footsteps in the Southern Ocean
Sailing in Shackleton's footsteps to Antarctica and the Southern Ocean – many dream of this.
In 2022, I launched 'Sailing SOUTH 2024' to make this a reality for myself and others.
Early February 2024 – the time had come. A personal dream became a shared adventure: 45 unforgettable days and 3,078 nautical miles in the Southern Ocean and Antarctica.
Our sailing trip along the Dalmatian coast was a perfect mix of adventure and relaxation. We visited Korčula and Mljet National Park and anchored in peaceful harbours such as Sobra and Slano. Along the way, we enjoyed Croatia's beautiful scenery, its history and the delicious food. To finish, there was some exciting sailing to windward that brought a great deal of joy. With sunshine, clear water and idyllic spots, Croatia showed itself at its very best.
Six days of sailing in the beautiful Stockholm archipelago in (almost always) glorious sunshine and 10–15 knots of wind. Knowledgeable and flexible skippers who let us guests (cabin charter) take the helm whilst sailing. Whether anchoring in the traditional way, mooring bow-to with a stern anchor, or berthing in the harbour of a smaller island or a larger one (Sandhamn) – variety is guaranteed in the Stockholm archipelago!
