Caribbean Trip - Guadeloupe to St Martin - fun all the way

I had the pleasure of sailing on the trip Guadeloupe, Antigua/Barbuda, St Barthélemy towards St Martin in February/March 26.
I was travelling alone with 4 other crew members on board. Together with Jan we had a lot of fun sailing, during meals on board and also on shore excursions.
What I enjoyed as a sailing beginner were the explanations that Jan was happy to provide in response to my questions.
I can recommend Jan as a skipper in every respect.

Guadeloupe -> St Martin

I had already been sailing in the Caribbean since the end of December (on a catamaran), wanted to see even more there, and joined Jan's trip on his Roci at relatively short notice. Jan has a phone conversation with every interested person to clarify expectations, but also to see whether the crew would be a good fit – and he proved to have an excellent touch with our small crew. Although I was travelling alone on board with two couples, I always felt part of the group and had a wonderful time. Jan is also very open when it comes to the galley – this particular trip was vegan at the request of the other guests – we tried and discovered lots of delicious dishes whilst cooking, and each of us came home with a new list of great recipes.

As I had been sailing for two weeks on a catamaran with a larger commercial provider directly beforehand, I can compare the two ways of travelling well. The Roci is beautifully maintained, has lots of things that make life on board comfortable (and safe) and you can simply tell that it's an owner's boat and not a charter yacht. As the owner, Jan also knows exactly what his boat can do in which conditions, and what it can't.
Jan loves to explain things with great patience, and lets even sailing beginners like me do what I feel confident doing under guidance – and more: in a few moments when, for example, I didn't think I could steer the boat whilst anchoring or take a night watch, he encouraged me wonderfully and by the end of the trip I left the boat with a great love of sailing. I actually just wanted to have a lovely holiday and see more islands in the Caribbean – and now I want to do more sailing 😉

I can wholeheartedly recommend Jan as a skipper, his boat the Rocinante, and his wind pilot 'the Lord' – even as a woman travelling alone. The long Atlantic crossing isn't for me just yet, but I'll definitely join again for future 'bathing trips' in new areas!

A dream

We had a dream holiday with Jan and his Roci. We sailed from Guadeloupe, Antigua, Barbuda, St Barth to St Martin. The contact was brilliant from the start, everything worked out perfectly. My husband was able to ask him endless questions and Jan taught and showed us so much that I'd love to set off again straight away. We're still sailing beginners, so this trip was perfect for us. He's a skipper who never loses patience, is open to new suggestions and with whom you can sail the world's oceans. He also brought the group together brilliantly. I can only recommend Jan and Roci to you

Great trip from Madeira to the Canaries including island hopping

With the experienced skipper Jan and his trusty boat Rocinante, we set off from Madeira for island hopping in the Canaries. This trip had everything to make a sailor's heart beat faster: first three days of true offshore sailing with proper wind and waves, and keeping watch (but no problem at all thanks to the wind pilot), and then relaxed anchoring, snorkelling, stand-up paddling and shore excursions on the quieter Canary Islands (if such a thing exists). Great weather, great crew, and great skipper. Warmly recommended.
