The VINO FROG, our traditional Lemsteraak, will accompany you on our trips in the Netherlands. We'll take you on exciting sailing voyages – from dinner on the mudflats to a real sailing trip.
The trip on the Oosterschelde from November to December 2025 was an indescribable experience.
We had days with wind and waves up to 7m and yet the atmosphere was always good.
The rhythm of the watches ultimately determined life – one had to embrace that.
In return one learnt to steer the ship and gained an 'inkling' of sailing on a three-masted schooner (many sails, many ropes etc.).
Dolphins accompanied us several times and the landings on Madeira and Tenerife were pleasant.
The crew was wonderful, the food was perfect and I had a very good time.
There was also enough time to think a great deal, with one's gaze on the horizon.
The most beautiful were the continuous days at sea between Tenerife and Cape Verde.
The processing and booking via Marevent worked brilliantly; every enquiry was answered in a short time.
All in all: addictive 😉

I still remember well the uncertainty I felt when I wanted to book a week's sailing holiday. The idea of spending a week in close quarters with unknown people made me somewhat nervous. I was particularly curious about what the skipper would be like, and how being together with 'strangers' on board would work out. Some of my worries were dispelled as soon as I arrived. Karsten, our skipper, collected me personally from the station. His friendly and empathetic manner quickly made it clear to me that I was in good hands.
Life on board proved to be surprisingly pleasant and harmonious, although I initially had concerns as a solo traveller. The close community and limited space fostered a special kind of consideration and cooperation. Everyone could have a say in route planning, and Karsten made sure that all opinions were taken into account. For those who wanted to take an active part in sailing, he offered many opportunities to participate and gave instruction. But anyone who simply wanted to relax also found their place. Everyday tasks such as cooking and shopping were done communally. We shopped together, prepared meals together and paid attention to everyone's needs. In the evenings we decided together whether to cook or eat out, and there was a good balance – sometimes someone else cooked, sometimes we went out. The fact that I don't eat meat was no problem at all – everyone was considerate of others.
The week was full of unforgettable moments and impressions, which I experienced particularly intensely alone on board. We saw beautiful Frisian towns, passed through locks, sailed on the IJsselmeer and the North Sea and experienced the variety of weather conditions – from calm seas to rougher weather. The ship itself was another highlight. A lovingly restored traditional vessel that was maintained with great care. After this wonderful week it was clear to me that I wanted to do my sailing licence. The joy and fun of sailing that I experienced during this trip motivated me to take this step.
For everyone who is uncertain about what awaits them: give it a go. The worries are unfounded, and the experience can be very enriching. Karsten was always approachable and remained calm and composed even in stressful situations. A skipper like him makes all the difference and ensures that everyone on board feels comfortable. This sailing trip far exceeded my expectations and showed me how beautiful and fulfilling sailing can be.
