I had an absolutely brilliant sailing weekend and can thoroughly recommend the "Heligoland Sailing Weekend" trip. The start was a bit tricky due to a last-minute change in the weather with thunderstorms forecast. The skipper adjusted the route accordingly to make sailing possible. Even with little wind, an effort was made to set sail so we could spend as much time under sail as possible. Fortunately the boat picked up speed even with little wind,
Over the following days he made the very best of the conditions (light winds) and gave us a cracking sailing weekend. As a beginner in particular, I benefited enormously from the fact that he explained a great deal and took the time to share his knowledge in an understandable way. At the same time, all participants could get stuck in and take on many tasks themselves, which significantly increased the learning effect.
We also got on very well on a personal level. The atmosphere on board was relaxed and pleasant, and the conversations together in the evenings really enriched the trip. Evening excursions in the area around the harbour were also very informative, thanks to Morten's local knowledge, which he's happy to share.
Overall a very positive experience with a successful blend of safety, hands-on practice, learning and good company. I'd happily do it again!
