The Grenadines (from Martinique)

Grenadines from Martinique

The Grenadines are often called the sailing paradise of the world. The constant trade winds combined with the shallow water protected by reefs around the islands create perfect sailing conditions. Add dazzling white beaches, crystal-clear water and an enormous variety of fish and marine life, and you have the paradise known as the Grenadines.

On this voyage from Martinique, we can expect some longer sailing days to reach St Vincent and the Grenadines from Martinique. This will be followed by shorter sailing days, with more time to relax and explore.

A typical 15-day voyage from Martinique to the Grenadines might look like this:

Day 1
Welcome aboard! Enjoy your first swim in the bay of Fort-de-France. Visit the fort after which the town is named, and toast your voyage with a sundowner in the cockpit.

Day 2
After a restful night we sail to St Lucia, famous for its Pitons. The locals come out to meet us to show us the best anchorage with their local knowledge.

Day 3
Today we continue to Chateaubelair on St Vincent – quite possibly the most beautiful bay in the entire Caribbean, with more shades of green than you can imagine.

Day 4
We sail on to Young Island. Visit the local market, try authentic Ital food, explore the jungle, watch the green and red national parrot and admire the impressive botanical garden.

Day 5
A pleasant breeze takes us to Canouan, where friendly land tortoises cross the paths, the water is full of fish and island life remains calm and relaxed.

Day 6
A short sail brings us to idyllic Chatham Bay on Union Island. In this uninhabited bay you can snorkel amongst colourful corals, hike along wild trails and watch iguanas. We round off the day with a fresh cocktail by the campfire on the beach.

Days 7–8
The absolute highlight of the voyage: the Tobago Cays. Swim with tame turtles and colourful fish, watch the waves break over the reef and relax safely in the calm water behind it. If there is an end of the world, this is it!

Day 9
With good wind and flat water we sail to Bequia, the sailing hotspot of St Vincent and the Grenadines. Discover local crafts, admire traditional whaleboat replicas and secure yourself a T-shirt to remember your visit.

Day 10
We continue to Petit Byahaut, the best spot to watch shoals of Caribbean wrasse mating. In this beautiful uninhabited bay you will find complete peace.

Day 11
The voyage takes us to Cumberland Bay. Here we anchor in deep water and tie the stern to a palm tree! Locals come by in their rowing boats to sell fresh fruit and handmade jewellery.

Day 12
A full sailing day takes us to Rodney Bay on St Lucia, a beautiful, sheltered anchorage for the night.

Day 13
We sail to Grand Anse on Martinique, famous for its beautiful beach and great snorkelling spots.

Day 14
We sail on to Le Marin, Martinique's marina centre. Ashore we enjoy a well-deserved beer together and look back on the memories of the voyage.

Day 15
After a final morning swim and a delicious breakfast, it's time to say goodbye. With a heart full of memories and a relaxed body and mind, it's back to dry land.
