Between the sun-blessed Canary Islands of Tenerife, La Gomera and Gran Canaria you sail with the trade wind through Atlantic swells – that's the thrill of this sailing trip. A sporty trip with regularly good wind conditions awaits you. And every stop ashore is worthwhile too: above all, the scenic variety of La Gomera with green ravines, volcanic formations and small villages makes this trip a special experience.

This sailing trip is a true natural experience: crystal-clear water, whales and dolphins, volcanic landscapes, extensive beaches and impressive cliff coasts.

Sun- and wind-hungry sailors get their money's worth on this trip. The Canary Islands offer a unique sailing area with sporty conditions, strong trade winds and nature that ranges from dramatic cliff coasts to substantial mountain ranges. Our departure and destination harbour is Las Galletas in the south of Tenerife; a former fishing village with a relaxed atmosphere, ideally located just a few kilometres from the airport.

THE SAILING AREA
Directly after casting off, adventure is in sight: La Gomera, La Palma and, in suitable conditions, El Hierro or Gran Canaria can be called at. In one week, typically two islands are the focus – often it's a combination of Tenerife and La Gomera or La Palma. Which route is actually sailed depends on wind, weather and of course the crew – that makes every trip unique.

La Gomera is a particularly popular destination. The island is only a few nautical miles from Tenerife and offers everything that makes a sailor's heart beat faster: impressive ravines, secluded bays, a lushly green rainforest in Garajonay National Park and authentic Canarian villages. In the harbour of San Sebastián you can spend the night beautifully, stroll through the old town or undertake a land excursion into the mountains. And if you're lucky, in calm weather you can even anchor in one of the sheltered bays and swim in the crystal-clear water – a highlight that often remains unforgettable.

La Palma also regularly forms part of the route. The 'Isla Bonita' impresses with black lava beaches, steep mountain slopes, extensive laurel forests and a charm all of its own. The crossing from Tenerife or La Gomera is somewhat longer, but absolutely worthwhile – and, with appropriate wind conditions, readily integrated into a 7-day tour.

Depending on weather conditions, Gran Canaria with its lively harbour life or even El Hierro as the most remote Canary Island with rugged nature can also be called at. However, on a week-long trip, typically only one of these more distant islands forms part of the route for time reasons – because we want to sail, not rush.

What makes this trip special is the combination of sporty sailing and genuine explorer spirit. Conditions in the Atlantic are more demanding than in the Mediterranean – not extreme, but lively. The trade wind usually blows steadily from the northeast and makes for really good sailing weather. At the same time, the distances between the islands are often longer than in other sailing areas – ideal for experiencing proper offshore sailing.

Our yachts are excellently equipped and regularly maintained. Nevertheless, the Canaries also require a bit of improvisation: the maritime infrastructure isn't as dense everywhere as it is in the Mediterranean, and sometimes creative solutions are needed – whether for a small repair or flexible route planning. But that's often where the special appeal lies: mastering challenges together with the crew and experiencing the genuine feeling of sailing.

The Canary Islands lie within the trade wind belt – with steady northeasterly winds that act like a natural engine for our yacht. The climate is mild all year round.

LIFE ON BOARD
This active and sporty sailing trip is suitable for experienced sailors and sea-hardy beginners. The skipper will show you how to handle the yacht, so you'll soon be at the helm yourself and actively involved in running the boat.
The route planning is flexible; together with the skipper, the daily stages are planned taking into account the interests of all crew members, wind, weather and organisational aspects.
At the start of the trip the ship's kitty is set up for all running trip expenses as well as basic provisions on board.

TRAVEL
Flights are available from many German airports to Tenerife South (TFS) and we're also happy to arrange them on request.

Own transfer to harbour. The transfer on Tenerife between Tenerife South Airport and the yacht harbour Las Galletas (approx. 13 km) is inexpensive by public bus (just under €3 per journey) or taxi (approx. €23 per taxi and journey). The bus departs directly from the terminal and stops right by the harbour. From there it's only a few metres' walk.
In exceptional cases (e.g. start or end of season and for 10-/11-day sailing trips) the sailing trip may start or end in Radazul (approx. 40 min by bus; approx. €7 per journey).
