Cherbourg – English Channel – Dover

Join us on an exciting sailing trip right across the English Channel – from the French harbour city of Cherbourg to the famous white cliffs of Dover. A route that combines busy commercial shipping waters, strong tidal streams and intensive navigation.
We start in Cherbourg, one of the Atlantic's most important French ports, and set a course northwards towards the English coast. Soon after departure, tidal streams, traffic separation schemes and busy shipping characterise the scene – the English Channel is one of the world's busiest sea areas.
This trip is genuine active sailing: watch system, navigation by tides, precise timing and good teamwork aboard are essential. Depending on conditions, we sail along the Normandy coast or choose direct crossings over the Channel.
With a bit of luck we experience changing light, long passages under sail and perhaps even close encounters with cargo vessels, ferries and fishing boats.
Our destination is Dover, where the striking white cliffs and one of England's most historic harbours await us. Here we round off the crossing in a port steeped in tradition.

Who is the trip suitable for?
For sailors with a spirit of adventure and an interest in active offshore sailing. Some experience is helpful, but not essential. What matters are team spirit, sea-worthiness and a willingness to work with concentration in the watch system.
