Final trip Cuxhaven – Kiel Canal – Travemünde

Join us on a varied trip from the North Sea into the Baltic Sea – from Cuxhaven along the Elbe estuary, through the impressive Kiel Canal to Travemünde. A route that perfectly combines offshore sailing, lock manoeuvres and canal passage.
We start in Cuxhaven, where the Elbe flows into the North Sea. Already on departure we experience a busy sailing area with tides, traffic and the typical conditions of the German Bight. Depending on weather and current, we head up the Elbe towards Brunsbüttel, the western entrance to the Kiel Canal.
The transition into the canal is a special moment: suddenly the sailing area changes from open sea to a sheltered yet technically demanding waterway. Large cargo ships, ferries and yachts share the route through one of the world's most important artificial connections.
Here you're actively involved: lock manoeuvres, line work, navigation in narrow waters and safely passing oncoming traffic are all part of daily life on board. At the same time, the canal offers its own special calm – gliding past fields, forests and small villages through Schleswig-Holstein.
After the eastern exit at Kiel we continue through the Kiel Fjord and along the western Baltic coast towards Travemünde. Here the sailing area opens up again, and we reach our destination harbour with Baltic flair and maritime atmosphere.

Who is the trip suitable for?
For crew with an interest in varied sailing areas. Some sailing experience is helpful but not essential. Important are team spirit, attentiveness and the pleasure of active participation on board.
