London sailing trip 2027 – to Tower Bridge and back!

Dear sailors,

Fancy sailing with us up the Thames right into central London? Lying in St Katharine Docks with a view of Tower Bridge and enjoying London's unique atmosphere? Then join us in September aboard ALPHA LYRAE, our modern and well-equipped Salona 44! For this trip we're still looking for sailors who already have blue-water experience and know themselves to be good sailors. You can expect long sailing days, waves, wind and sea, wide horizons, numerous encounters with commercial shipping, challenging navigation – and as a reward fish and chips and a pale ale after arriving in London!

The trip contribution of €795 covers all costs of running the boat (food, berthing fees, diesel, insurance etc.) – so there are no additional costs on board. A mileage certificate can be issued at the end of the trip.

We're planning this six-day trip with you as follows:

We ask you to arrive in Stavoren by 12:00 on Tuesday at the latest. A brief round of introductions will be followed by the safety briefing for the yacht. Then we need to stow the luggage and our provisions on board. Around 14:00 we depart towards Den Oever, where we leave the IJsselmeer through the "Stevinsluizen" locks. We follow the Wadden Sea channel "Visjagersgaatje" which takes us through the channels "Malzwin" and "Texelstroom" past Den Helder onto the open sea. On a westerly course we leave the Netherlands behind us and sail through the night towards the British Isles. Destination: Queenborough Harbour in the Swale. The direct distance from Den Helder to Queenborough is 185 nautical miles, so we expect to arrive late on Wednesday evening. On Thursday we tackle the 40 nautical miles to St Katharine Dock in the heart of London. We'll set off back to the Netherlands no later than the first ebb on Friday and arrive safely back in Stavoren on Sunday afternoon
