London → IJmuiden | Long Distance Passage 2027
After our stay in London it's time to cast off once more. We leave the British capital on the Thames and follow the river back out to the North Sea. Behind us lie Tower Bridge and London's skyline, ahead of us a varied passage across the southern North Sea.
We plan our departure from London to match the tides. Then we set course for the Dutch coast. Traffic separation schemes, heavy shipping and offshore wind farms demand careful navigation. Weather developments and tidal streams also determine our route.
Reaching IJmuiden marks the start of a new leg of our long-distance passage. After Portugal, Spain, France and England we reach the Netherlands and with it one of Europe's most traditional watersports areas.
I'm particularly looking forward to this trip. The North Sea has fascinated me for many years. Here challenging navigation, weather planning and the long history of European seafaring come together.
Long Voyage, Not Charter
MAVERICK is on a continuous voyage from Gibraltar to Glückstadt. Each crew takes over the boat from the previous crew and brings it a stage further north. We don't follow a fixed charter route but orient ourselves by wind, weather and tides.
On board you're part of a small, active crew. You can take part in navigation, weather routing, tidal planning and watch organisation and deepen your experience on a longer sea passage.
Who is this for?
Level 2 – Active Crew. You have already experienced several sailing trips, can actively support manoeuvres and largely take on watches independently.
Good to know
This trip takes place from 19.09. to 01.10.2027 and can only be booked as a two-week leg. The North Sea crossing will be planned according to weather, tides and traffic conditions.
