We sail with a maximum of 6 guests. Each of the 4 cabins has its own bathroom.

We sail from Martinique to Guadeloupe. The trip starts in Le Marin, which, thanks to its infrastructure and flair, is perfectly suited as a departure harbour. After stocking up on provisions at the nearby French supermarket, we enjoy our first Caribbean evening with a lovely meal at a typical harbour-side restaurant.

Cast off
We sail from Martinique to Guadeloupe and the next day it's time to 'cast off' and our yacht makes her way through the buoyed channel, which safely guides us between the offshore reefs and out into the Caribbean Sea. With following trade winds we enjoy the first nautical miles under southern sun, which quickly makes us forget the winter back home. We pass 'Diamond Rock' and head north. To starboard the bays of Petite Anse d'Arlet and Grande Anse d'Arlet beckon and invite us to linger. Wherever the anchor finally drops, we round off this glorious sailing day with a delicious meal on board.

On to Dominica
The next passage takes us to the neighbouring island of Dominica, one of the most unspoilt of the Lesser Antilles. Our destination is Prince Rupert Bay off the picturesque village of Portsmouth. Here we anchor for two days and explore this spectacular jungle island with its unique flora and fauna. In the morning our friend Albert (pictured below), who has been our guide for many years, picks us up in his boat and rows us up the Indian River, a fascinating nature reserve in the middle of the jungle. Afterwards we explore the island by minibus and also visit the last indigenous inhabitants of the island.

On to Guadeloupe
The next day is again all about sailing. At exhilarating speed we head to the western side of Guadeloupe, where we make for the Jacques Cousteau National Park, one of the most beautiful snorkelling areas in the Caribbean. Naturally we take plenty of time for this. We sail just a short distance further and drop anchor in the bay of Deshaies. Here we absolutely must try the homemade ice cream of two elderly ladies. Although they apparently sell it illegally (photos are only allowed if the number plate isn't visible), people queue here in droves!

Off to Antigua
On our next leg we experience what it means when the trade winds build up the sea over hundreds of miles. The swell is two metres high, but as long as a football pitch is wide. It lets us glide along gently. Our destination is Antigua, the sailing centre of the Leeward Islands. Here we lie in English Harbour at Nelson's Dockyard, a dream mooring spot against a historic backdrop. The highlight is the Sunday concert on Shirley Heights, where, to the music of steel and reggae bands, you celebrate the sunset with a cocktail in hand and a magnificent view.

Montserrat gets under your skin
After a beautiful sailing day of about 30 nm with following winds, the anchor drops off Montserrat. To this day, two-thirds of the island remain a restricted zone because of the still-active Soufrière Hills volcano. A trip to the capital Plymouth, buried under volcanic ash and lava, is something you never forget. A sight that really gets under your skin. With our guides we also visit the Hilltop Café. It's run by a former priest who captured the eruption first-hand in pictures and sound, and has already been featured in several TV documentaries.

Back to Guadeloupe
From here we head back to Guadeloupe, which with its offshore Îles des Saintes offers us ample opportunity once more for swimming, snorkelling and relaxing. A short beat to windward takes us to Pointe-à-Pitre, where the trip ends with a final lovely dinner at our favourite little restaurant there. Just as we're getting into the swing of reminiscing, we realise... Martinique, Guadeloupe, Dominica, Antigua and Montserrat... we could definitely do that again!
