Sailing through these islands is like a journey through time and past cultures.

SAILING AREA
The departure and destination harbour is Kos Marina in Kos Town, centrally and therefore ideally located in the Dodecanese archipelago. Kos is the third-largest island after Rhodes and Karpathos.

The island group of the Dodecanese (Greek: Twelve Islands) adjoins the Cyclades to the east. They belong to the southern Sporades and extend southwards along the Turkish coast down towards Crete. About 160 islands, islets and reefs are counted, of which only around 25 are inhabited. The majority of the islands lie fairly close together and are easily accessible from Kos on a week-long sailing trip - so the choice is yours.

From the very first day of sailing you're right in the middle of it all and can decide whether to head north-west via Kalymnos to Leros, Lipsi, Patmos and perhaps also to Levitha or Astipalea, or whether the less-known south-east with the almost untouched islands of Nisyros, Tilos and Symi will be your destination.

In the Dodecanese there are green wooded islands and also barren flat islands, lovely cypress groves and mountainous landscapes. You sail to dreamy bathing bays and quaint harbour villages. The best fish is served on Telendos in a small taverna right by the sea! On Kos you stroll through the old town and enjoy the sparkling atmosphere in one of the cafés.

The predominantly sleepy islands of Lipsi, Patmos, Leros and Kalymnos invite you with beautiful bays and idyllic little villages. Perfect for forgetting time and slowing down. With good winds and a crew that enjoys sailing, a detour to the diverse island of Astipalea or the small idyll of Levitha is attractive.

Almost all the islands played a significant role in antiquity, and traces can be found in many places. Evidence of ancient civilisations is therefore present at many locations. Ancient citadels, famous castles and museums, as well as important archaeological sites are present on every island. The islanders are hospitable and sociable, just as tradition dictates in Greece. In simple fishing harbours you meet Greek families over ouzo and good food in the taverna.

The islands of the Dodecanese are known for excellent wind and sailing conditions. The Meltemi blows fairly steadily from a north-westerly direction. Pleasant temperatures already prevail in spring; in summer the temperatures remain pleasant due to the steady wind; from May to October it hardly ever rains. The sea invites extensive swimming right into November.

LIFE ON BOARD
Sailing experience is not necessary for this holiday trip. It is intended for everyone who wants to sail actively, for sea-worthy beginners as well as for experts.
The skipper will show you how to handle the sailing yacht, so that you will soon have the helm in your own hands and be actively involved in boat handling.
The route planning is flexible; together with the skipper, the daily stages are planned taking into account the interests of all crew members, wind, weather and organisational aspects.
At the beginning of the trip, the ship's kitty is set up for all running trip expenses as well as for basic provisions on board.
