We sail with a maximum of 6 guests. Each of the 4 cabins has its own bathroom.
Skipper training at Lanzarote and Fuerteventura. Even on a skipper training course we have plenty of opportunity to explore the two islands of Lanzarote and Fuerteventura. Our skipper training courses do not follow a fixed pattern as on a sail training course but are tailored to the individual wishes of the participants. The Canaries are ideal for practising manoeuvres in strong winds and all in the best weather and pleasant temperatures. This archipelago is simply the quickest and most affordable way to treat yourself to a few days of summer during our winter. One very nice fact is that even the level of simple restaurants and eateries is very high.
Start of trip
The trip begins on Saturday. Our yacht is moored in Marina Lanzarote in Arrecife, the island capital. After provisioning, we find ourselves a nice restaurant.
Cast off
The next morning, after a thorough boat and safety briefing, we cast off. Under engine we practise initial manoeuvres: reversing, turning in tight spaces, stopping. The south of Lanzarote is also the best place for our sailing manoeuvres and we get to know our boat under sail. With the famous Papagayo beaches, Corralejo and the tiny island of Los Lobos, there are some very beautiful anchorages in this area. Here we can practise our anchoring manoeuvres to perfection. The swimming stops in the pleasantly warm Atlantic are wonderful! Depending on the wind, we sail across to Fuerteventura and if conditions allow we continue sailing along the east coast of Fuerteventura to Marina Castillo or the very unspoilt, less touristy Gran Tajaral. We practise the various man-overboard manoeuvres and also try them single-handed.
Return to Lanzarote
We navigate with radar or simply try out the emergency tiller whilst covering distance. In good time we make our way back to Lanzarote, where we may also take a day to explore the interior of the island. This volcanic island, fascinating despite its barrenness, with the buildings created by the famous artist César Manrique and its wine-growing region declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is always a delight.
At the end of the week we moor again in Arrecife. We conclude the trip with a delicious meal in the restaurant we already know from the first day.
