SKS sail training in the IJsselmeer region, on the Wadden Sea and the North Sea

You want to take your Sportküstenschifferschein (SKS) or finally gain real tidal and local knowledge and are looking for a diverse crew? Then come aboard our 42-foot sailing yacht!

From Wednesday 14th to Saturday 24th October 2026 we depart from Lelystad for an intensive trip.

The decisive advantage of our trip duration is the time: ten days enable intensive, practical training that goes beyond the standard. Instead of rushing through the programme, you have the leisure to practise manoeuvres in different harbours until they're second nature. Moreover, the realistic achievement of the required 300 nautical miles for the SKS is comfortably doable in this time – without losing the joy of sailing.

- The sailing area & programme:

Depending on weather, wind and the crew's prior knowledge, we cover ground. The IJsselmeer offers perfect training conditions, but excursions to Amsterdam, into the Wadden Sea and onto the North Sea – such as IJmuiden, Den Helder, Texel – are all possible. Here you learn navigation, harbour manoeuvres, locks and boat handling under real conditions.

- The exam:

On 22nd October 2026 the practical SKS examination by the Deutscher Segler Verband takes place off Lemmer – participation is optional (registration directly with the DSV Prüfungsausschuss Münster).

- Facts & costs:

Berth price: €1,100 (including bedding).
Excluding: travel, ship's kitty (provisions, diesel, harbour fees) and examination fees.

The Sportküstenschifferschein (SKS) is the official licence for coastal waters (up to 12 nautical miles offshore). The DSV requires proof of 300 nautical miles in addition to the theory. You gain precisely these miles and the necessary confidence for the practical exam on this trip.
