At the summer solstice we start in Oslo and sail south through the Oslo Fjord. The trip takes us via the Skagerrak, Kattegat and Danish waters all the way to Greifswald. The long days and short nights make this route a special summer experience on the water.

From Oslo we first sail through the Oslo Fjord and then across the Skagerrak and Kattegat towards the Baltic Sea. The precise route and possible intermediate stops depend on wind and weather. Longer legs, night passages and watch-keeping are part of the trip.

On board you'll be involved in navigation, weather observation, sail handling and seamanship. At the same time we'll train intensively the manoeuvres and skills relevant to the examination: berthing and casting off, man-overboard recovery, navigation, bearings, sail trim and boat handling. You'll receive continuous support and feedback throughout.

On 1st July the official SKS practical examination takes place at Segelschule Greifswald — on the same yacht you've been training on beforehand. This means you'll go into the exam familiar with the boat and its handling characteristics.

Prerequisites for the examination: minimum age 16, Sportbootführerschein See and proof of 300 nautical miles sailed after obtaining the SBF See. As we'll cover more than 300 nautical miles before the examination, the required miles can be accumulated during the trip. You therefore do not need to have completed them all by the start.

We'll be sailing on a 43-foot Beneteau Oceanis. The yacht offers good sailing characteristics for longer legs and at the same time a suitable size for practising harbour and examination manoeuvres clearly. She has three double cabins and one cabin with a bunk bed.
