This two-week trip takes us into the archipelago waters of the Swedish west coast (Bohuslän). Under the motto "Sail & Discover" we combine sailing amongst the skerries with intensive experiences ashore. We travel in June during the two weeks before Midsummer – a time of almost endlessly long days and a special spirit of renewal along the coast. Departure and destination is Gothenburg, our turning point in the north is the Koster Islands.

The concept: Sailing and shore leave in balance

With 15 days' time we have the perfect foundation to explore the region without time pressure. We deliberately plan 2 to 3 days in harbour. This gives us the flexibility to adapt to weather conditions and for activities away from the cockpit:
• Hiking & nature: Exploring the barren granite rocks, nature reserves and the car-free Koster Islands (Kosterhavet National Park).
• Culture & sights: Visit to historic fishing villages such as Fjällbacka or Marstrand with Carlsten Fortress.
• Cuisine: Time for Swedish "fika" (coffee break) in the coastal towns or buying fresh fish directly from the cutter.

The practice: Marinas and natural harbours in turn

We use a modern Bavaria C45 (5 cabins). The sailing area demands focused seamanship and offers us the opportunity to practise Scandinavian sailing in its purest form:
• Approach to natural harbours: We will actively anchor in the skerries and practise the traditional method of mooring with the bow to the granite rock and setting the stern anchor.
• Healthy balance: Solitary nights in the skerries are followed by stops in well-equipped marinas to use the facilities and explore the towns.
• Fairway navigation: Sailing in the narrow skerry garden requires precise dead reckoning and constant attention at the helm and chart.

As we spend much time in natural harbours, we are mostly self-sufficient on board and cook together. In the inhabited harbours we also enjoy the local gastronomy.
