Trip description: Nuku Hiva – Marquesas Islands – Nuku Hiva (14 days)

Our voyage begins in Nuku Hiva, the largest island of the Marquesas. After the final preparations on board, we sail out of the sheltered Taiohae Bay and leave civilisation behind. The coming 14 days are the perfect mix of sailing, exploring and relaxing.

Sailing between the islands of the Marquesas
As we sail from island to island, we quickly become aware that the Marquesas Islands are one of the most remote and pristine island groups in the Pacific. Our route takes us to isolated, untouched islands that offer a variety of scenic beauty: steep volcanic peaks, deeply carved bays and tropical forests.

In the first few days we experience the impressive volcanic landscapes and the dramatic coastline of the islands. On many islands we anchor in quiet bays, enjoy the clear ocean for snorkelling or simply the luxurious feeling of solitude on almost untouched beaches.

Island-hopping: nature, culture and relaxation
Depending on wind and weather, we sail from island to island, with plenty of time to experience each one. From the wild, steep coasts of Fatu Hiva to the hidden bays of Hiva Oa – every island has its own character. The trip gives us the opportunity to experience the diversity of the Marquesas in a very special way: we enjoy the view of the stunning natural landscape, immerse ourselves in the local culture, and also have time to relax and savour the Pacific in its most pristine form.

Some islands offer a fascinating insight into the history and art of the Marquesans, with traditional villages and centuries-old customs. On others, we simply anchor in quiet bays to swim in crystal-clear water and spend time on leisurely walks.

Return to Nuku Hiva
After several days of island-hopping and experiencing the unspoilt natural landscape, we slowly make our way back to Nuku Hiva. The final leg takes us once again into Taiohae Bay, where we bring the voyage to a close. The anchor drops, and we can quietly reflect on the experiences of the past fortnight and enjoy the end of an unforgettable sailing trip.

We sail with Lotte, a Bavaria C51 from 2017. Lotte is a special vessel and is constructed without restrictions for ocean use and certified by the Berufsgenossenschaft. She sovereignly takes even high waves and delights with excellent seakeeping. Comfort and dynamics have been uncompromisingly combined, so that a cosy camaraderie on board and an intensive sailing experience await us.

Welcome on board, Willkommen an Bord, Grüezi mitenand ond willkomme a Bord !
