Family sailing trip in August for swimming and splashing around the Kvarner. We had a wonderful time in Croatia. There was even some wind for sailing and the food was excellent! The little towns we visited – Cres, Mali Lošinj, Susak and Unije – were all really nice and very welcoming.
SKS Sail Training on Mallorca with fantastic anchorages and many wonderful experiences. In addition to comprehensive sailing training, the programme included many different anchorage bays. Majorca, with its many beautiful bays, is a very varied sailing area.
Our sailing adventure began on Saturday aboard a Bavaria 34 Cruiser, aiming to reach Åland before a storm. After three hours of sailing, we anchored and enjoyed dinner. The next day, we arrived in Mariehamn, Åland, and spent Monday exploring the island.
On Tuesday, we started our return to Sweden, practising sailing drills and anchoring in Tjärrovik. The following days took us through Gräddö, scenic skerries, and the beautiful Grinda Island.
Fantastic sailing from Martinique, northern route to St Maarten. Rainforests, waterfalls, jungle excursions, extensive snorkelling and numerous sandy beaches accompanied us on this trip heading north. Our destination: St Maarten, with its coolest airport right on the beach.
Setting sail, sun on our faces, freedom in our hearts: from Martinique via St Lucia and St Vincent to the Tobago Cays, we experienced turquoise seas, reggae, rum and lobster on the beach – a Caribbean adventure full of magic, wind and unforgettable moments.
We begin our family and bathing trip in Pirovac, a charming coastal town. From there we sail to La Spuz, where calm bays and clear water invite us to swim. We continue to Kakan. A highlight of the trip is Skradin with the impressive Krka waterfalls, where we can go for a walk and enjoy nature. Via Zirlje, a quiet island, we finally reach Rogoznica, known for its beautiful marina and lively atmosphere.
We recently enjoyed a sailing trip to the stunning Hardangerfjord, often called the Queen of Fjords, in Norway. It was a relaxing and joyful experience filled with sailing, hiking, exploring islands, and immersing ourselves in nature. Despite Norway's reputation for rain, particularly in Bergen—Europe's rainiest city—we were blessed with fantastic weather most of the time. Only once did we experience chilly, cloudy conditions; otherwise, it was sunshine and a perfect breeze.
Six weeks sailing around the fascinating Lofoten Islands aboard a Garcia 52 Exploration. An adventure between endless sunshine and wild snow showers. Two crews, three skippers and around 1,000 nautical miles. Read the full trip report on our website now.
Corfu, one of Greece's greenest islands, is a paradise for beach lovers. With crystal-clear water, hidden coves and picturesque coastal villages, Corfu offers ideal conditions for an unforgettable sailing holiday. Highlights include beaches such as Barbati and Agios Georgios Pagi, as well as unique spots like Porto Timoni and Paradise Beach. For sailing adventures, the Ionian Islands provide the perfect backdrop with their welcoming harbours and breathtaking landscapes.
An unforgettable highlight. We set off from Palma and sailed along the coast to breathtaking bays such as Cala Pi and the island of Cabrera. The skipper led us to hidden treasures, where we snorkelled and explored the underwater world. The shared responsibility and atmosphere on board brought the crew together. We especially enjoyed the romantic evenings and cooking with local ingredients. The mix of adventure and relaxation made this holiday unique.
My sailing holiday in Croatia was unique. I set off from Pula full of excitement, accompanied by an experienced skipper. The route took us to Rabac, where I enjoyed unforgettable party nights, then to the island of Cres with its impressive Blue Grotto. After a relaxing day on Premuda and further adventures on Unijce and Susak, we enjoyed our last evening in Pula. This holiday was a perfect blend of relaxation, adventure and new friendships.
An eventful and memorable week in Kvarner Bay lies behind me/us.
This wealth of experience – I've truly earned this week!
This week, I've really got something to talk about, and I can take so much away from it and put it into practice at home! What's really striking is that these principles apply in every system, they're universally applicable – in private life too. Real added value.
"Is this reality or a dream? Happy moments waking up in the morning, sunrises at the helm with popcorn, the diversity of the sea, every breath of wind, the joy of movement, encounters with dolphins and furling the sails. The voyage offered a climb for a breathtaking view. The galley team crowns the day with a surprise dessert to accompany the paella. Who can prove that this dream life is real? Today I lived my dream!"
Having departed from Martinique, we sail towards Guadeloupe under foresail, mainsail, topsails, forestay and inner jib. The Atlantic swell brings unfamiliar motion to new and old Roaldies alike. A consolation: an impressive pod of dolphins. The demanding but rewarding day ends with a beautiful sunset. Under a clear starlit sky we continue our course to our next anchorage. In 'Caribbean easy mode' we hold course so as not to disturb those sleeping. Our watch is over, we look forward to our bunks.
On the rough Atlantic we sail at about seven knots in Force 8–9 winds, surrounded by waves, white horses and the raw power of nature. On the bridge we marvel at the spectacular display, whilst in the bunk the constant rolling poses a challenge. A tiny ship, a 33-strong crew, united against the elements. Despite the swell and salt spray, we cherish the beauty of the seascape and the camaraderie of the crew. Alongside the challenge of sailing, we find time for useful activities such as learning splicing and serving.
From heavy rain showers to refilling the cereal box to an unexpected 'bathtub' moment on deck – the crew experiences challenges and rewards. An impressive rainbow accompanies the furling of the upper topsail, and welcome news announces that the Azores will be reached in less than 500 nautical miles. The night transforms the ocean into a silvery landscape, whilst the crew looks forward to the coming day and sends loving greetings to their loved ones.

This is what freedom feels like to me: we're anchored in a quiet bay. We take the dinghy to the beach and experience the Caribbean just as you know it from the brochures: crystal-clear water, palm-fringed beach and a cocktail bar. Earlier I climbed up to the first platform on the mast and enjoyed the view: sky above me, the ship more than ten metres below me, turquoise water and a good dose of adrenaline from the climb. An almost unbeatable feeling!
450 miles full of experiences in the comfort zone, and in our panic zones!
There were a few challenges, and the odd hard nut to crack. Sailing is so varied, and can bring so much joy, especially when you can also laugh at yourself.
... with mooring at the buoy or at the quay wall.
I'm curious, because it's got dark. We check the first bearings and turn our theoretical knowledge into practical competence. A specific sound emerges – namely the sound of 'the penny dropping' (SK!PA humour)! The sound occurs quite frequently, and we have another laugh. What rubbish you can talk when the day is long, and what you can take with a sense of humour....
My boss said I'd done really good work over the past year and deserved something special: "But boss, I've never been on a sailing boat before...!" To arguments like seasickness, lack of expertise and completely uncharted territory, there were only better counter-arguments: "Well, B, you're always saying yourself that you're curious, that you like challenges, and that you need to reflect on your own self-efficacy." So now I'm here and …
