Excellent dinner at Restaurant Scola in Barösund. Stop-over at Hanko, dinner at the boat with smoked fish. Lovely upwind beat to Högsåra. Farmors Cafe delivered maybe the most delicious dinner on the whole trip. The stop-over at Borstö, a great experience of a remote place in the Archipelago. A local fisherman gave us a stack of pike perch which fried in butter made our meal for that night. Nagu with all its attractions was great again and Turku offered us a day of sightseeing.
Training weekend on the Class40 #29 Jumbo40 with experienced regatta sailor and navigator Marc Lepesqueux.
30 knots of wind, high waves and strong currents in the English Channel. On the way back off Alderney we made only 1–2 knots over the ground despite 13 knots through the water!
That's exactly why I train on the Class40: to sail safely and confidently even in difficult conditions.
If you had asked me just before this sailing trip on the Adriatic whether I was a good sailor, my answer would have been "Of course".
I was full of expectations and plans: sailing, learning harbour manoeuvres, trying out the dinghy, taking photographs, fishing and swimming. But the sailing trip on the Adriatic, which was meant to last 13 days, was suddenly over after a week. A voyage with so many possibilities took me to fantastic places, but for me the trip remains without an ending.
