Traditional sailing regatta Brandaris Race – Harlingen, Terschelling – 50+ participating vessels
This page was translated automatically from German. View the original
This race runs from Harlingen to Terschelling – home to the oldest lighthouse in the Netherlands, the Brandaris. Fifty traditional sailing vessels in a small sailing area make for a fascinating spectacle. There is much to see, much to do, and the racing is keen – but not cut-throat. You are very welcome to join us even without experience.
Around 50 traditional sailing vessels will take part. They are divided into five classes: large and small clippers, large tjalks, aken/skutsjes and seagoing ships. The timed start is a particularly impressive spectacle every year.
Once you arrive on Terschelling you can take a walk through the beautiful beach and dune landscape or explore the picturesque village of West-Terschelling.
Later in the evening you can head to the 'famous (or infamous)' dance bar, the Braskoer, where the prize-giving and sailing festival take place. After breakfast the next morning we shall sail back to Harlingen and expect to arrive by Sunday lunchtime, before 16:00.
We want to make it very clear again that sailing experience is absolutely not a requirement! So simply come along and above all don't miss out on this adventure!
The trip is accompanied by an experienced and qualified crew and there will be around 10–19 guests on board. Minimum age: 14 years
