This sailing voyage starts and finishes in Stralsund city harbour. From here some of the finest destinations on the German Baltic coast lie directly ahead: the car-free island of Hiddensee, the sheltered Bodden waters around Rügen, idyllic harbours and, with a bit of luck, the famous chalk cliffs from the water.

Whether peaceful sailing, active hands-on deck work, fresh fish in harbour or a cosy evening in the warm saloon – this trip combines nature, traditional sailing and a relaxed autumn atmosphere.

— DEPARTURE FROM THE HANSEATIC CITY OF STRALSUND —

On 29 September you will be welcomed aboard by the crew in Stralsund's city harbour from 18:00. After arriving on board, you will get to know the ship, the crew and your fellow sailors.

The next morning it's time for the first "cast off!" Anyone who wishes can help set the sails straight away, as every helping hand is welcome on board. Of course, there is also plenty of time to enjoy the views, the fresh sea air and the special feeling of an autumn sailing trip.

Stralsund is an ideal starting harbour for this voyage. The historic Hanseatic city lies directly on the Strelasund and offers excellent opportunities for a varied trip towards Rügen, Hiddensee and the Bodden waters.

— HIDDENSEE: NATURAL PARADISE WITHOUT HASTE —

From Stralsund, the first destination could be the small, idyllic island of Hiddensee. This natural paradise is known for long sandy beaches, dune landscapes, wide meadows and a particularly relaxed atmosphere.

The harbours of Vitte and Kloster offer an ideal starting point for exploring the island on foot or by bicycle. One possible destination is the famous Dornbusch lighthouse, from which there is a sweeping view over the island and the Baltic Sea.

Particularly in autumn, Hiddensee reveals its quiet, unspoilt character. Without the hustle and bustle of summer, the island's special atmosphere can be experienced especially intensely.

— SAILING AROUND RÜGEN —

Rügen also offers many possibilities for this sailing voyage. Germany's largest island is diverse and varied: quiet harbours such as Gager or Lohme, livelier places such as Sellin or Lauterbach, sheltered Bodden waters and impressive coastal landscapes.

Of course, the world-famous chalk cliffs must not be missed. If wind, weather and route permit, the view of the white cliffs from the water is a particular highlight.

Perhaps the voyage will also take you under sail around Kap Arkona. Or you might spend more time in the sheltered waters, enjoy peaceful sailing and discover smaller harbours around Rügen. Where the voyage actually leads is decided by the weather.

Along the way, you can learn much about traditional sailing and historic ships. The crew will explain the most important techniques and show you how you can safely help with setting sails, handling lines or during manoeuvres.

You don't need sailing experience. What matters most is an interest in life on board, openness and enjoyment of travelling together.

Anyone who would rather sit relaxed on deck, let their gaze drift over the Bodden waters or enjoy the autumnal Baltic air is equally welcome. The voyage offers a lovely mix of activity, nature and relaxation.

At the end of September, this sailing area has a special charm. The harbours are quieter, the landscape shows itself in warm autumn colours and after a day on the water it becomes especially cosy in the saloon.

Depending on the weather, it might mean one more swim at the beach – or perhaps enjoying a cup of grog in the warm saloon instead. In the evenings you sit together, talk about the day, plan possible destinations for the next morning and enjoy the simple, convivial life on board.
